No student at Boca Raton Community High School in Florida will ever eat lunch alone, thanks to a new club called We Dine Together.
The group is made up of kind and friendly students who roam the school grounds making sure everyone has a friend to eat lunch with. They introduce themselves and then take some time to just chat and get to know them.
Many of the students in the club have their own personal stories of feeling left out and having no one to eat lunch with, so they know what it’s like.
Denis Estimon, who remembers having no one to hang out with when he came to the United States from Haiti in first grade, is one of the club’s creators. He says, “It’s not a good feeling; you’re by yourself. And that’s something I don’t want anybody to go through.” He hopes his We Dine Together club will extend to other high schools.
