Sailor From Benton Harbor Goes To Prison For Killing Daughter

A US Navy sailor from Benton Harbor will be serving 15 years in prison for killing his five month old daughter. Stars and Stripes reported this month that 23 year old Lequae Caldwell hit the girl with a karate chop like blow on January fifth, causing her heart to stop. He said in a statement to the court that stress contributed to his actions, and that he attempted to revive the baby after realizing what he'd done. Caldwell, a competitive body builder, was sentenced by a military judge to 21 years in prison, but because he confessed to the murder, he'll end up serving 15. He is married, and his wife has given birth to a son since the death of the little girl.
