Legislation approved by the State House this week would require the Michigan Lottery to keep track of anyone who wins more than a thousand dollars and report that information to the Department of Human Services. The lotto winnings would be counted as assets when someone applies for food or cash assistance, and state Representative Dale Zorn, of Ida, says that this'll prevent abuse of the system:
