Usually, being sent home by the boss isn’t a good thing. But for Mike Bell of McKinney, Texas, it saved his life.
Mike, a sales manager at a car dealership, caught the eye of his boss, Gus Rodriguez, who thought Mike wasn't at his best on the sales floor.
Mike said he didn't really feel that bad – just a little dizzy.
It didn’t matter. Gus sent him home and suggested that Mike go to the doctor.
Good thing he did because Mike had a rare blood infection. Serious stuff. Doctors say that if Mike hadn’t come in for medical care, he would have died within a few hours.
Gus ended up joining Mike's family at the hospital – and helped Mike pay the bills for months while was at home, recovering.
