Happy Headline: Man Did 5,000 lbs of Laundry for Homeless

The owner of a laundromat in New York City is awash in praise after doing nearly 5,000 pounds of laundry for the homeless … for free.

Samuel Van De Cruze, owner of Mr. Bubbles in Queens, spent 60 hours washing, drying and folding clothes for 75 homeless families living in The Landing – a nearby family homeless shelter. He even picked up and dropped off the laundry at the shelter.

Van De Cruze says he acted “in the spirit of Easter” and said he was inspired to help after seeing the struggles the homeless face with something as simple as doing laundry. They have to walk long distances with heavy loads and young children, and the cost is also a burden. He says he just wanted to help. And that he did …
