In Canada, a 6-year-old won a national beauty pageant – and then donated her winnings to help feed the homeless.

Alexis Leslie was recently crowned Queen Junior Miss at the National Canadian Girl, Teen and Miss Pageant in Edmonton.

It was a big honor and an inspiring victory, but Alexis was even more inspiring after the contest when she announced that she wanted to give her $100 prize to buy food for those in need.

Her mother, Natalie, says her daughter is always looking for ways to help people. Alexis has volunteered to raise money for a children’s hospital –as well as other charities. Alexis has also helped to do garbage cleanup on Earth Day in her community.

But Alexis says feeding the homeless is most important to her because she wants to “help people that don’t have any food.”

Alexis definitely has fun competing and still loves the trophies and especially the tiaras – but making people smile is her true prize.
