Katy Perry is working on new music but don’t expect it to sound like “Rise”!

Even though Katy Perry‘s Olympic anthem “Rise” has been a gold medal success, she says it’s not an indication of where her music is headed.

Katy, who’s been working on a new album for a good chunk of 2016, says the song had been on the back burner for a long while when the Olympic Committee came knocking. She tells Mashable, “Years ago I had tried to write [‘Rise’] but it didn’t work, it didn’t come out right. When the Olympics approached it was already half-written, and it was one of the first songs that I have written in this next batch, so I pulled it out. I would never necessarily go with this type of song as the first single in the middle of the summer. It wasn’t obvious as something I would go with for the next record, but it seemed to match the spirit of the athletes.”

One clue about where she might be going with the new album? She just cut a song with Rae Sremmurd, the hip-hop duo behind Beyoncé‘s “Formation.”
