Robert Redford says he will soon retire from acting.

The star of such iconic films as Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid, The Way We Were and All the President’s Men, Redford shared his plans in an interview posted by the Walker Arts Center in Minneapolis.

During a conversation with his grandson Dylan Redford, the 80-year-old said that, once he completes two projects he’s committed to, he’ll leave acting behind. But he intends to remain active as a director and plans to resume his long-ago hobby of painting.

Calling himself an “impatient person,” Redford says “it’s hard… to sit around and do take after take after take.”

Redford will co-star opposite Jane Fonda in Our Souls at Night and make Old Man With a Gun, a comedy with Casey Affleck and Sissy Spacek. He remains the chairman of the annual Sundance Film Festival in Utah. (The Guardian)
