Ed Sheeran rode shotgun with James Corden last night for Carpool Karaoke.

Ed brought along his acoustic guitar, which he admitted acts as his security blanket. Ed feels awkward in social setting and around women. He explained, “I was quite an unfortunate-looking kid. I feel like God looked down on my and was like ‘You need help getting laid, mate.’”

James Corden challenged Ed to see who could cram into their mouth the most chocolate-covered malted milk balls. It wasn’t even a contest. James nearly choked on 26, while Ed shoved 55 balls into his mouth.

Ed and James sang his number one hits “Shape of You,” “Sing” and “Thinking Out Loud.” They covered One Direction’s “Beautiful” and Justin Bieber’s “Love Yourself.” Then Ed recalled the night he got wasted with Bieber in Japan and nearly knocked out Justin’s teeth with a golf club.

Carpool Karaoke concluded with James and Ed re-writing the lyrics to “Castle on the Hill” specifically for driving around Los Angeles in bumper-to-bumper traffic.
