1984 – Prince released his album “Purple Rain” which featured his first U.S NO 1 single, “When Doves Cry.”

1993 – “Sleepless in Seattle” starring Tom Hanks and Meg Ryan opens in theaters. The movie featured a hit soundtrack, with music from Nat King Cole and Harry Connick Jr.

2009 – Micheal Jackson was found dead in his Los Angeles mansion. The 50 year old music legend was the subject of worldwide mourning and countless tributes over the coming weeks.

Artifact of the day: 1967 – Today is World Beatles Day!               The Beatles premiered “All You Need is Love” to an audience of 400 million on a global TV broadcast.
