1985 – Mick Jagger and David Bowie worked together at the legendary Abbey Road Studios to record their song “Dancing in the Street.” The music video was shot the same day to benefit the charity, Live Aid.
1994- The Manchester based band Oasis made their BBC TV debut performing their single “Shakermaker.”
2003 – Beyonce started a five week run at No. 1 on the U.K charts with her album “Dangerously In Love.” She also hit the U.S No. 1 on this day in 2003.
Artifact of the day: 1966 – Performing his song “Cherry, Cherry” Neil Diamond makes his TV debut on American Bandstand.
