1985 – On July 13th 1985, The Live Aid concerts to raise money for hunger efforts in Africa, took place in London and Philadelphia. It featured top acts of the day, including The Beach Boys, Tina Turner, Elton John, Queen and Bob Dylan.

1996 – The new world record for longest jam session ever played was set July 13th 1996, when over 2,000 guitar players played “Heartbreak Hotel” for 75 minutes straight, in Nashville’s Riverfront Park.

2008 – Joan Jett of Runaways fame, made an appearance on “Law and Order: Criminal Intent.” She played a talk show host who met an untimely demise, on this day in July 2008.

Artifact of the day: 1972 – On July 13th 1972, The Rolling Stones played Cobo Hall in Detroit, in the first of a two night engagement.
