The former NBC hit “Mad About You” is returning, but to an out-of-the-way spot on Spectrum, the cable distributor. Stars Paul Reiser and Helen Hunt not only star and share executive producer credit on the new series, but Reiser wrote the premiere and Hunt directed it.

In what is being called “a limited event,” the Mad About You reboot picks up 20 years later and the Buchmans are saying goodbye to their daughter Mabel (Abby Quinn), who is off the college.  Not only are Reiser and Hunt back in character, the show’s supporting players —  Richard Kind, John Pankow, Anne Ramsey and Jerry Adler — are back as well.

Spectrum reaches 29 million homes, behind only Comcast and AT&T among pay-TV distributors. “Mad About You” return will feature six episodes available now, and another half-dozen in December.

“Mad About You” is available now on Spectrum Originals.
