Back in March, when all this coronavirus stuff started, high school senior Ajay Sachdev spent some time — and made some money — helping other students on an online tutoring site.

But, Ajay realized that not everyone could afford the private lessons, so he teamed up with two classmates to create a new — free — website, designed to help those who were struggling with remote learning.

The service, called Smartly, allows users to send in questions about their homework and get emailed responses from one of the site’s 25 volunteer tutors at no cost.

The response has been great. There’s no shortage of students who want to volunteer — and there was no shortage of questions being asked before summer vacation started.

Now with the new school year about to begin again, Ajay and his partners hope to be able to serve many more students, especially those who will begin the year learning from home. (NJ.com)
