Another holiday tradition bites the dust. The Times Square New Year’s Eve ball drop will go virtual this year.
Organizers say it will be a “virtually enhanced celebration,” but added that there would be a few small, scaled-back live events.
Tim Tompkins, president of the Times Square Alliance, says, “One thing that will never change is the ticking of time and the arrival of a New Year at midnight on December 31st. But this year there will be significantly new and enhanced virtual, visual and digital offerings to complement whatever limited live entertainment or experiences — still in development — will take place in Times Square.”
CBS News says that “barricades will be set up around Times Square to keep people out, like every other New Year’s Eve, but they won’t be letting anyone in.”
Even the dropping of confetti might get nixed.

The cast of the hit 90s movie Father of the Bride will reunite for a “very special event” to benefit World Central Kitchen on Friday. Steve Martin, Diane Keaton and Martin Short will come together at 6 p.m. EST on Netflix’s YouTube and Facebook pages. (NY Post)

Gossip Ireland says Prince Harry and Meghan Markle are ready for a second child. A source tells the website,  “Now that they’re comfortable in their new home and everything else in their lives is locked in and going well, Meghan’s told Harry it’s baby time. She’s ready to be a mom again and can’t wait to start the process! Meghan loves being a mom, and seeing how happy and complete Harry is with Archie by his side is richly rewarding for her. Meghan’s confident a second child will be perfectly manageable on a practical level and will bring them even more love and joy. She and Harry are both really excited for the next phase of their family journey.”

The National Enquirer claims Ellen DeGeneres is allegedly declaring war on Hollywood because very few celebrities backed her when she was accused of having a toxic work environment. A source tells the magazine, ”DeGeneres is warning her famous friends to defend her or be prepared for the consequences. She was all alone because nobody wants to be associated with Ellen’s freefalling reputation right now. She won’t be afraid to uncover rocks to reveal the darkest and most embarrassing secrets. DeGeneres will make them pay for their silence.”
