2020 – 16th Annual Smoke Alarm Program

Smoke Alarm donations for Berrien County Residents

October – Fire Prevention Month

In 2004* we asked Berrien County Fire Departments how SERVPRO of Berrien County could help with fire prevention.  The answer was clear:  “Smoke Alarms for residents in need”

SERVPRO of Berrien County, Honor Credit Union and Spectrum Health-Lakeland are donating 1,300 smoke alarms and 130 CO alarms to all 26 Berrien County Fire Departments for residential distribution.  Alarms will be delivered to all fire stations starting in October.

Midwest Family Broadcasting is helping spread the word with public service announcements directing residents in need to contact their local fire department to request smoke alarms.

There will also be a radio broadcast  for “Got Something to Say” that will air on 94.9 WSJM News in October.  And on “The Coast Social Network” .

Some local Fire chiefs and Servpro of Berrien County will be discussing fire prevention, alarm distribution and department activities in the county. Residents will be directed to contact their local fire department to arrange for smoke alarm installation.

Fire Department websites, Facebook, Instagram and Youtube social media venues will be provided approved program information through Gerry Kableman.

*More than 14,000 alarms have been distributed through this program
