Eddie Van Halen, one of rock’s greatest guitarists, died yesterday from a variety of cancer-related causes. He was 65.
His son Wolfgang announced his death on Twitter last night.
He’ll be remembered for his fiery performances and unique personal style on the instrument and as a music innovator. He pioneered two-hand finger tapping and harmonics on the guitar and held three patents for musical inventions.
Eddie played on two chart-topping singles during his lifetime — Michael Jackson‘s “Beat It” in 1983 and Van Halen‘s “Jump” in 1984. However, he topped the rock radio airplay chart 13 times with Van Halen, whose place in the pantheon of classic rock bands is assured.
Over on Twitter, Valerie Bertinelli has posted a loving tribute to her ex-husband, Eddie Van Halen.
Valerie, who shared a son, Wolfgang, with the guitarist, called him “my love” and said she was grateful to have been with him in his last moments.
According to TMZ,  Eddie died at St. John’s Hospital in Santa Monica. His wife Janie was by his side, along with his son, Valerie, and Eddie’s brother Alex.

Another week of Dancing With the Stars and another series of gaffes by Tyra Banks.
This time the new host announced the wrong bottom two couples during Monday’s show. Later she tweeted, “Wowzers. Live TV. Wrong name on cards. So challenging to deal with moments like these. But we power through.”
She also addressed a wardrobe malfunction on Monday’s show, writing, “OMG! When I changed outfits, I wasn’t zipped up and had to hold my outfit up while introducing the next act. Live TV, y’all!”
Tyra has been called out for several missteps since taking over for longtime hosts Tom Bergeron and Erin Andrews.
In a recent interview with Us Weekly, Tyra said, “Every host messes up. It’s just normal. It’s live TV. If it wasn’t live, there would be no mess-ups. Even on America’s Next Top Model, I would mess up and tell my editors to leave it in. That’s what makes things human.”

Another potential blockbuster has been yanked from the 2020 movie schedule. Warner Bros. has moved Dune from December 18th, 2020 to October 1st, 2021.
The big-budget sci-fi flick, starring Timothée Chalamet, was expected to be one of the top releases of the holiday season.
This comes just days after the James Bond movie No Time to Die was also postponed, moving from this November to April.
Disney also recently delayed several planned 2020 releases — including Black Widow and Steven Spielberg‘s remake of the musical West Side Story.
Because of the lack of new releases, Regal Cinemas has decided to close all of its theaters starting this week. Cinemark and AMC say they have no plans to shut down.
Wonder Woman 1984 and Death on the Nile are still set to open in December.
