Has COVID made daters more concerned with personality than looks? According to Match.com’s new Singles in America survey, coronavirus has caused a dating “renaissance,” with people being a lot more sincere when it comes to dating, spending more time getting to know someone, focusing less on appearance, and looking for something more meaningful than casual:
  • 63% said they spend more time getting to know potential partners.
  • 69% said they are more honest with potential partners.
  • 59% said they are considering a wider range of people as potential partners.
  • 61% of Gen Z daters and 49% of Millennials said they are focusing less on physical attraction.
  • 50% of Gen Z singles said they are having more meaningful conversations with potential dates before meeting in person.
  • 58% said they have shifted toward more “intentional dating”

Moms dropping out of work force … Many people have lost their jobs due to the pandemic, but another under-reported consequence is the number of parents – particularly women – who have had to quit their jobs in order to stay home with their kids. A new report from the Labor Department has revealed that women between the ages of 25 and 54 are dropping out of the job market at the highest rate since the peak of the pandemic. The reason? With many schools and daycare centers still closed, women with young kids have had to leave their jobs to stay home with their kids – and, in many cases, home school their kids. (NY Post)

If your iPhone recently updated to the newest system software and you’re starting to see little dots on the screen, don’t worry, it’s normal, and probably very helpful. The Sun says Apple’s latest iPhone update adds a warning dot that alerts users whenever their microphone or camera has been activated. The feature is intended to help people know if they are being hacked. The dot turns green when the camera is being used and orange when the microphone is live.
A spokesman for Apple says, “Privacy is a fundamental human right and at the core of everything we do.”

It’s beginning to look a lot like Christmas … Good news: If you want/need to tune out the pandemic and politics, holiday movies are coming — and soon. Hallmark’s “Countdown to Christmas” movies start on October 24th, Lifetime’s “It’s a Wonderful Lifetime” movies kick off on October 23d, and Netflix is rolling out 28 holiday movies this year, beginning October 28th with the Emma Roberts rom-com Holidate.
