Liz Pearce is a professor at the University of Iowa who went the extra mile for her students this Thanksgiving – by cooking holiday meals for those who are at school and away from home.
The effort was a family affair for Liz, as two of her children pitched in to cook extra turkey, stuffing, peas and apple pie – along with vegan options.
News of her offer went viral, which makes sense to Liz, who happens to be a communications professor. She realizes that we’ve been socially distanced and psychologically distanced, so the simple offer of a home-cooked meal ends up being a way for people to connect.
Liz fed as many students as she could in hopes of giving them a normal holiday experience in these unusual times.
