In Madison, Alabama, a World War II veteran named Major Wooten was released from the hospital after beating the coronavirus — just in time to celebrate his 104th birthday.
Major served in the U.S. Army for several years overseas, and then went on to build railroads and work on rail cars in Paris in the 1940s.
This year, he found himself in the hospital because of the virus, but he battled back in a big way.
On Tuesday he was released, with a parade of nurses, doctors, friends and family cheering him on and singing “Happy Birthday” to him — because his birthday was the very next day.
Family members said they were thankful to have him home, both for his birthday and for the Christmas season ahead.
