A 117-year-old French nun who survived COVID-19 recently celebrated her birthday with a gourmet meal of foie gras [Fwaa-Graa], capon [Cay-Pon] with mushrooms, and baked Alaska for dessert. Oh, and also some port, champagne, and red wine. Sister André credits her health and longevity not only to her faith – but to drinking red wine. What are her plans for her 118th birthday next year? Sister André says she doesn’t have any because she “won’t be here next year.” But, as the communications director of her nursing home says, “She’s been saying that for 10 years.”

 

The results are in … and it seems that Dry January was a bust. A survey found that the average American attempting the booze-free month lasted just 10 days before caving. 70% of the respondents said they had taken on the Dry January challenge, but 55% said they weren’t successful. 4% said they gave up … on January 1st. 8% failed by January 3rd.

 

This summer, the Coca-Cola company has plans to test out new, sustainable paper bottles in Hungary, in the hopes of replacing their plastic bottles as a better-for-the-environment alternative. It will likely be a while before paper bottles make their way into the global market, but it’s a good way for Coca-Cola to not just test the effectiveness of the new packaging, but to gauge customer response.
