The Rock and Roll Hall of Fame will reveal its Class of 2021 Wednesday at 8:05 a.m. ET.
Sixteen acts were nominated, and, on average, five to seven are inducted.
To be eligible for nomination, an individual artist or band must have released its first commercial recording at least 25 years prior to the year of nomination.
Here are this year’s nominees and how they fared in the online Fan Vote, which received a total of 4,860,391 votes:

  2. Fela Kuti – 555,705
  3. The Go-Go’s – 433,072
  4. Iron Maiden – 414,419
  5. Foo Fighters – 392,406
  6. Carole King – 386,697
  7. Todd Rundgren – 291,717
  8. Devo – 272,765
  9. Dionne Warwick – 250,500
  10. Chaka Khan – 234,600
  11. Kate Bush – 224,731
  12. Rage Against the Machine – 224,478
  13. New York Dolls – 174,228
  14. Mary J. Blige – 155,581
  15. LL Cool J – 140,728
  16. JAY-Z  – 117,828
The Fan Vote comprises a fans’ ballot that is tallied along with the other ballots to choose the 2021 inductees.
Three of this year’s nominees are already enshrined in the Hall:
  • Carole King – inducted in 1990 along with her ex-husband Gerry Goffin in the non-performer category for songwriting. This is her second nomination as a performer.
  • Tina Turner – inducted in 1991 as a member of Ike & Tina Turner. This is her second nomination as a solo artist.
  • Foo Fighters founder, singer and guitarist Dave Grohl – inducted in 2014 as a member of Nirvana. This was the Foos’ first nomination.
The 2021 induction ceremony will be held on October 30th at the Rocket Mortgage Fieldhouse in Cleveland.
