U.S. Army veteran Marty Weber donated a 36-acre parcel of land in Barnegat Township, New Jersey, with the purpose of helping fellow veterans in need.
Marty’s mission is to work with a homeless outreach group to create a group home, rehabilitation center, and quiet retreat for homeless veterans struggling with addiction and mental illness.
Marty said he had always envisioned somehow using the wooded land to help fellow veterans. And if all goes according to plan, there will be an 8,000-square-foot building used as a treatment facility and a thrift store that will employ veterans living on the property, allowing them to get used to working with the public — and eventually getting them back into society.
