Last year, due to the pandemic, United Way of Southwest Michigan pivoted from an in-person drop-off event to a “shop your impact” online event for its annual June food drive to restock local pantries during the lean summer months. This year United Way is still offering the safe-and-easy online donation option as last year—as well as bringing back its good, old-fashioned in-person, one-day food drive on June 24!

“There’s always been so much excitement surrounding the in-person event, and we’re thrilled that we can bring it back,” said Charlotte Becker, UWSM’s Director of Annual Campaign. “There really is a sense of generous holiday spirit in the air at the drop-off and shop-and-drop locations—and it definitely feels like Christmas morning to the pantries that benefit.”

UWSM’s food drive, formerly called “Christmas in June,” has been reborn as “Summer Stock Up”—and with the help of premiere sponsor Kellogg Company and its charitable fund, the event has gone statewide with 24 United Ways participating. All funds and food donated stay local. Additional support has been provided by American Electric Power Foundation and Dash Digital Services.

Join United Way in bringing some cheer to local pantries this June!
