A Community Rallies to Find Missing Dog After Scary Crash

A woman in Kelowna, British Columbia, was driving home after a trip to the lake with her dog when they were involved in a car crash. Dearah Jordan says once the vehicle stopped rolling and she opened her eyes, she realized that her mini Australian shepherd Daisy was missing.

She immediately jumped out of the car and started searching for Daisy. Even though she was dealing with a sore neck and a bunch of scrapes and bruises, her biggest concern was finding her dog. Her efforts were halted when emergency crews showed up at the scene of the accident and insisted that she go to the hospital.

Luckily, other than some soreness and bruising, Dearah was fine and released from the hospital. She and her husband, Sharron, resumed the search, joined by friends, neighbors, volunteers, and even members of the Central Okanagan Search and Rescue (COSAR).

The real miracle happened a few days after the crash. COSAR member Forrest Kellerman, and his wife, Tracey, went back to the site of the crash, and that’s when they found Daisy, sitting in the passenger seat of the truck belonging to the other driver involved in the crash.

They were able to coax Daisy out and deliver her home to Dearah and Sharron for an emotional reunion — all thanks to Daisy’s survivor spirit and the amazing support of the local community.
