An Anonymous Donor Helps Kids Stay Calm In Crisis
The Bethlehem Police Department in Delmar, New York, just received a special gift from an anonymous donor to help officers deal with children on the autism spectrum. Thanks to this donor, every single patrol car in the department is now equipped with a Carter Kit, which is designed to help calm and communicate with children facing sensory overload during emergencies.
Each bag is packed with tools like weighted blankets, noise-canceling headphones, fidget toys, and non-verbal cue cards.
While the department originally only had the budget for two kits, this mystery family stepped up to donate 16 more, ensuring that no matter which officer arrives on the scene, they have the tools to keep a child feeling safe.
