In Corrales, New Mexico, Chad Akenhead and his family are selling Christmas trees with the idea of helping both their customers and small businesses in the area.
Chad and his family set aside more than 40 trees to sell, asking people to pay what they can for the trees.
And then, all that money will be donated to small businesses in the area.
The promise from the Akenhead family is real. The trees are available for whatever families can afford to pay, even if it’s nothing.
Their efforts have already raised more than $1,000 for businesses in need.
Chad explained that “money is cool,” but during these crazy times, nothing beats making people happy.

The KardashianJenner family’s famous Christmas Eve party has been canceled.
Khloé Kardashian writes, “The Covid cases are getting out of control in CA. So we decided that we’re not doing a Christmas Eve party this year. It’s the first time we will not be having a Christmas Eve party since 1978 I believe.”
The reality star added that they plan to put “health and safety first,” and that “taking this pandemic seriously is a must.”

Brookline, Massachusetts police recently arrested a man for breaking into Tom Brady’s Brookline mansion. The home is currently for sale. No word on if the man took anything. TMZ says the suspect, Zannini Cineus, was previously arrested for stealing a Tom Brady jersey from the New England Patriots Hall of Fame exhibit. Officers found Zannini laying on a couch in Tom’s home.

Carole Baskin tells The Observer newspaper that she was shocked after watching ”Tiger King” because she has never spoken to Joe Exotic. “At the end of it. I just sat there with my [current] husband, looking at each other, like: ‘What was that?’ Such a missed opportunity. Because there was so much they could have shown people about the egregious abuse that these animals suffer. Instead, they just glamorized this yahoo in Oklahoma, and tried to create a feud. I’ve never even spoken to Joe Exotic. I’ve seen him in person I think four times. It was like watching a dumpster fire, you just couldn’t turn away from it. It was just mesmerizing that there could be this many crazy people doing so many wretched things to animals.”

The winning song at the top of the list? “We Will Rock You/We are the Champions” from Queen.

From labor to lawyer … The Chicago woman who made headlines in October when she went into labor during the bar exam, gave birth, and then finished the test, is more than just a new mom. She’s also a new lawyer — because she found out last week that she passed the bar. To refresh your memory … Brianna Hill was supposed to take the exam in July, three months before her due date, but when the pandemic pushed it off to October, she knew it might conflict with her delivery — and she was right. Her water broke during the first part of the two-day exam. She gave birth later that day and then finished the test the next day in the hospital. Congrats, Brianna! (WMAQ-TV)

Gwen Stefani is the kind of star who needs no introduction, but she’s offering one anyway — on the comeback single, “Let Me Reintroduce Myself.”
Gwen debuted the bouncy tune last night on The Voice, and she tells fans to expect a bit of a throwback. She says, “The idea was to write a song that had a bit of a nostalgic feeling to it, so I think musically it reminds you of back in the day, going back to where I started musically which was with ska and reggae. I’m still the same me but here’s something a little bit new in case you feel like hearing a little bit more of me.” You can find it on YouTube…it definitely sounds like a No Doubt track!

Cyndi Lauper‘s taking her annual Home for the Holidays benefit show virtual this year — and she’s making it bigger than ever.

Cyndi will pop on to chat with fans during all the streams.
Proceeds from Home for the Holidays will go to True Colors United, which Cyndi co-founded 12 years ago to prevent and end homelessness among LGBTQ youth.

Shawn Mendes and Camila Cabello are looking to spread some warmth for the holidays, so they cuddled up by an open fire… To record their lovey-dovey version of “The Christmas Song.”

“The Christmas Song” is featured on the holiday deluxe edition of Shawn’s new Wonder album. The feel-good song will also do good for others. Camila says that proceeds from sales will go to Feeding America — and she and Shawn will match that with a $100,000 donation of their own.

Amazingly, Thomas just used the Guideline app from Google. The app gave him instructions that he was able to hear in his headphones — that allowed him to safely put one foot in front of the other.
Thomas believes “humans are born to run,” and has dedicated his life to helping others get out there, regardless of any challenges they face.
Running a long distance without any assistance was a huge victory for Thomas, who appreciates the feeling of freedom and independence, every step of the way.

How do you string the lights on your Christmas tree? According to multiple TikTok videos, the easiest and best way to put the lights on your tree is to string them vertically instead of going round and round like usual. Apparently, it not only looks just as good, but it’s easier, will take you less time, and you’ll need fewer lights. (House Beautiful)

Not the same ol’ resolutions … New Year’s Resolutions are going to be a whole lot different this year. Seems the last year has had an effect on people’s priorities. What do you do to calm down after an argument with your significant other? A 48-year-old man in Italy decided he needed to go for a walk … for 280 miles. Lewis Capaldi has been named Songwriter of the Year by Variety, and he’s proud of the honor — but says the overall darkness of 2020 helped make him the man of the hour.
Lewis says “It’s genuinely overwhelming, especially this year, to know that through all this [crap] that has been happening, people are listening to my music. Whether or not they wanted to — maybe someone was listening on the radio and they went, ‘This [stuff] is terrible, turn that off. I’ve soundtracked the worst year of many people’s lives. That’s quite a feeling!”
So how does he write downer songs like “Someone You Loved”? He jokes, “What I do to get, as you say, in that zone, is: Immediately before a song, I will go to the bathroom, look into the mirror and I‘ll pick my nose hairs out or pluck my ear hairs out, while also just filling my own head with little things like, ‘Oh, you’ve got that weird tooth thing that Tom Cruise also has, where your teeth don’t line up. You’ve got one of those tuck-in chins that is not desirable at all.”

They’re hoping it’ll be next year at their new Encino home because it’s easily accessible for their celebrity friends and the perfect setting. Billboard magazine just gave its annual Women in Music Icon Award to Jennifer Lopez — and though she’s honored, she says that success hasn’t changed her.

I’m the person that you look at and say, “I can do that because she did it. I am the person that people relate to, the person who’s down to earth, who’s loving and cries and is caring and tough — all the things you would expect this little Puerto Rican girl from the Bronx to be.”
And as for being elevated to Icon status? “I think of an icon as somebody who defines a moment or an era. Someone like Barbra Streisand — a singer, actor, producer and a director who wound up defining movies in a different way, because her beauty wasn’t typical. When I started working in my early 20s, it was size zero  models on the cover of magazines. Tall, blonde, white, sometimes Black. But never Latina. I didn’t shy away from being from the Bronx, I didn’t shy away from my humble beginnings. I embraced all of it to be who I was and offer something really different.”

Last month, when an employee at a restaurant in Jersey City, New Jersey, tested positive for coronavirus, it looked like things would have to be shut down. But that’s when a business owner in the neighborhood stepped up and kept things running.
It was especially bad timing for the restaurant — called Wurstbar — because the weather was nice and there was a chance to serve a lot of customers outdoors over the unseasonably warm weekend.
But, to be safe, owner Aaron Khan closed the restaurant and sent all the employees home.
Andre Fersa — who owns and operates a barbershop down the block — heard the bad news and wanted to help. He stepped up, and along with some help from his friend, Joe Mercurio, the two men kept the restaurant running for the weekend. They tended bar, served giant Bavarian pretzels (since the other menu items weren’t available with staff gone) and managed to serve about 80 customers.
Aaron was thankful that Andre came to his rescue, and is now looking for ways to help other business owners who are dealing with challenges these days.

Kelly’s offered to pay for all the kids’ expenses, but Brandon seems to think he is entitled to and needs $301,000 in spousal support and $135,000 in child support per month.”

TODAY IS:
National Mutt Day: A day to celebrate those lovable mixed breed dogs.

Still eating Thanksgiving leftovers? It’s probably time to stop. It’s been 6 days since Thanksgiving, and if you still have leftovers in the fridge, you should probably throw them out. And if you’re still eating them, you better have some Pepto Bismol standing by. The U.S. Department of Agriculture recommends discarding uneaten leftovers three or four days after they’re cooked, which means that you needed to finish it all by Monday — or at least tossed it in the freezer. And the USDA says leftovers can safely remain in the freezer for up to six months, although the quality of the food may suffer.

Yesterday was Giving Tuesday, and Starbucks celebrated the day by announcing it would be giving all front-line responders free coffee for the month of December as a thank you for all they have done to keep us safe during the pandemic. According to the company, all front-line responders — including doctors and nurses, public health workers, pharmacists, dispatchers, firefighters, paramedics, police officers, dentists and dental hygienists, mental health workers, hospital staff (including janitors and security), and active-duty military — will get a free tall brewed coffee (hot or iced) throughout the month. (Food & Wine)

No surprise – people are sick and tired of bad news. In fact, a new survey has found that 75% of respondents said the constant stream of bad news has taken a toll on their mental health. And it seems the way we are coping with it is by replacing all the negative with something positive. 70% of those surveyed said they have made a point of doing something positive every day to lift their spirits from all the negativity. And what’s really interesting is that for most people surveyed, their daily “positivity” goal was to make someone else smile. 34% said making someone laugh was something they strived to do every day.

It was always somebody ruining the moment, always these dysfunctional family members who came around and foiled everything… After I kind of emerged from my first relationship-slash-marriage, I created the Christmases that I wanted to have.”
You can see exactly how she wanted to spend the holidays when Mariah Carey’s Magical Christmas Special hits Apple TV+ on Friday.

In Italy, police officers transported a donated kidney 300 miles in two hours — driving a  Lamborghini sports car.
The officers drove a Lamborghini Huracan from the city of Padua to Gemelli University Hospital in Rome, averaging 145 miles per hour.
Their expert driving paid off. The kidney arrived in plenty of time for a successful transplant.
Normally, the trip would have taken at least five hours. But, luckily, the police have a few Lamborghinis in the garage for situations just like these — and some of them even have a refrigerated trunk for transporting organs or other temperature-sensitive medical supplies.

In a matter of three months, skateboarder Nathan Apodaca has gone from living in an RV to paying cash for a five-bedroom house in Idaho Falls.
Nathan’s social media handle is DoggFace. He became an overnight sensation on TikTok for skateboarding, sipping on Ocean Spray and chilling to Fleetwood Mac‘s ’70s hit “Dreams.”
That fame translated to endorsement deals and corporate gifts like a truck to replace his long-board. DoggFace spent the money on engagement ring for his longtime girlfriend. He also paid $320,000 in cash on their first home. (People)

Melissa Gilbert, best known as the star of Little House on the Prairie, is recovering from major spinal surgery, as she revealed on Instagram on Thanksgiving Day.
Gilbert shared some operating room footage along with her health update, in which she said, “Nothing too gross or gory here but I wanted to share with all of you. Especially if anyone out there is dealing with spine issues. On this Thanksgiving Day, though I am isolated from all of my loved ones, I am so filled with gratitude. Be well and safe everyone. I send you all oceans of love.”
The 56-year-old has had a series of spine issues dating back to when she broke her back in 2001. She also suffered whiplash from a fall she suffered while competing on Dancing With the Stars, and a few months later the balcony of a house she was renting collapsed on her head.

Kelly Clarkson has been granted her holiday wish — “primary custody” of her two children with estranged husband Brandon Blackstock.
People magazine reports that a Los Angeles County judge ruled in Kelly’s favor, settling one part of the couple’s increasingly bitter divorce. The court decision says that joint custody of River Rose and Remington was ruled out because “the level of conflict between the parents has increased. The parties have a difficult time co-parenting due to issues of trust between them.”
Blackstock, who plans to live in Montana, will be allowed visitation at Kelly’s L.A. residence. The judge also divvied up holiday time between the two parents.

TODAY IS:
Giving Tuesday: Yesterday was Cyber Monday, a day to buy. And today, Giving Tuesday, is a day to give. ‘Tis the season of giving … so give of yourself this holiday season … even if it’s just your time.
Rosa Parks Day: It was on December 1st, 1955, when Rosa Parks made civil rights history when she refused to give up her seat on a Montgomery, Alabama, bus to a white passenger.
National Pie Day: A good day to bake a pie … or finish off that leftover Thanksgiving pie.

It’s December 1st … Which means engagement season has begun. According to WeddingWire’s 2020 Newlywed Report, December is by far the most popular month of the year for popping the question. In fact, 19% of the entire year’s engagements happen in December (July is the second most popular month at 9%). And 7 out of 10 of the most popular dates to get engaged are in December. According to WeddingWire data, Christmas Day will be the most popular day to get engaged, followed by Christmas Eve and New Year’s Day (yes, technically January – but close enough). (Real Simple)

Hey, remote workers … Hawaii wants you. Yep, paradise is calling. The state of Hawaii wants you to pick up and move to one of their islands right now. If you can handle the early morning work hours (a six-hour time difference for East Coasters), your day will end in the early afternoon — giving you plenty of time for fun in the sun. The statewide campaign, called Movers & Shakas — a reference to the “hang loose” hand gesture — is trying to help the damaged tourism economy by inviting remote workers to move to the beautiful state. According to the campaign, the first 50 applicants receive a free, round-trip ticket to Honolulu, but you must also pledge to “respect Hawaii’s culture and natural resources and help out at a local nonprofit.” And an added bonus … the state has some of the lowest COVID-19 rates in the country. And, celebrity chef Gordon Ramsey has a $106 burger on the menu at his new restaurant in London, which opens this week. What makes this burger worth so much? According to the menu, the burger features an expensive cut of sirloin patty, truffle pecorino cheese, fresh black truffles and mayonnaise made with Cep mushrooms. Oh, and fries aren’t included with the burger. That will cost you another 8 bucks. “I guarantee this will be a burger experience like no other,” Ramsey said. It better be for $106. (Today)
