According to a new survey, more than one-in-five college students won’t be enrolling in college this fall.
We’ve already seen some problems with coronavirus-related shutdowns and movements to online-only learning on the campuses of Notre DameNorth Carolina and Penn State — among others.
In response to the uncertainty that we’re all dealing with, 22% of college students looking for a “normal” on-campus experience are choosing to sit the year out and try again in 2021. (MarketWatch)

Have you taken your dog for a walk today? In Germany, a law has been introduced that would make it mandatory for owners to take their dogs for walks at least twice a day – for a minimum of one hour (in total). The proposed “Dogs Act” also states that owners would not be able to leave dogs chained up or alone for an entire day and puppies would be required to have human companionship for at least four hours a day. Agriculture Minister Julia Klöckner said in a recent interview, “Pets are not cuddly toys; their needs have to be taken into account.” If passed, the law could go into effect next year. (BBC)

Speaking of puppies … A group of puppies recently took a field trip to Sea World in San Diego. The park is closed, so the puppies were allowed to roam around and even get up close to the shark and dolphin enclosures. SeaWorld teamed up with Mission Bay Puppy Rescue and Pups’N Boots to organize the event, with the goal of raising awareness for adoption. You can see a video of the puppy field trip on Sea World San Diego’s Instagram. And if you want to adopt one of these adorable pups, go to Mission Bay Puppy Rescue. (Insider)

Have we actually found a hangover cure? We all have our own hangover “cures” – from eating a greasy breakfast to “sweating it out” with a workout, to popping Ibuprofen. But a study from Finland may have discovered what could potentially be a real cure. Researchers from the University of Helsinki and the University of Eastern Finland found that the amnio acid L-cysteine decreased hangover symptoms like nausea, headache, stress and anxiety. L-cysteine is found naturally in the human body and is also abundant in protein-rich foods. The amino acid is also sold as a dietary supplement. (Delish)

It may not quite have the resonance of Oprah’s Book Club, but Adele has heaped praise on a self-help book she says “will shake your brain and make your soul scream.”
The newly slimmed-down singer gushed on Instagram about Untamed: Stop Pleasing Start Living by Glennon Doyle. She writes, ” I am so ready for myself after reading this book! It’s as if I just flew into my body for the very first time. Whew!… Anyone who has any kind of capacity to truly let go and give into yourself with any kind of desire to hold on for dear life – Do it. Read it. Live it. Practice it. We are a lot! But we are meant to be a lot!”
Adele suggests that you not only read it, but “have a highlighter on hand to make notes because you’ll want to refer back to it.” She says the book taught her that she’s solely responsible for her own freedom and that “our own liberation liberates those around us.”

Britney Spears struck out yet again on Wednesday, when a California judge dismissed her latest attempt to have her dad removed from her conservatorship.
The court ruled that Jamie Spears would retain control of Brit’s finances, while “temporary” conservator Jodi Montgomery would be in charge of everything else. For what it’s worth, Britney is fine with Montgomery’s work — she just wanted to boot her dad.
Brit got some surprise support from her mostly forgotten first husband Jason Alexander, who she was married to for three days back in 1994. He showed up to tell the paparazzi, “I wanna see Britney get what she rightly deserves. From pretty regular conversations, she doesn’t want to be under the conservatorship. It’s negatively affecting her life. It’s time for it to be over.” (TMZ)

People magazine says Taylor Swift recently donated $30,000 to help an 18 year-old Londoner attend college. Vitoria Mario had a fundraising page that detailed her attempts to earn money for tuition. Taylor saw her page and gave her $30,000.
She posted, “Vitoria, I came across your story online and am so inspired by your drive and dedication to turning your dreams into reality. I want to gift you the rest of your goal amount. Good luck with everything you do! Love, Taylor”

Katy PerryLuke Bryan and Lionel Ritchie will all return as judges for the next season of American Idol, alongside host Ryan Seacrest.
The talent show, which was disrupted by the coronavirus outbreak, is coming back for its fourth season on ABC (19th overall). And because of the pandemic, auditions for the next season will be conducted virtually across every state. ABC Entertainment Karey Burke said in a statement, “American Idol has always been able to bring people together, entertain and inspire – and I am so proud of how this show continued to deliver joy and laughter into people’s homes during a time when we needed it the most.”

Joe Exotic‘s zoo has closed permanently.
This comes after current owner Jeff Lowe had his license to operate the animal park, made famous in the Netflix docu-series Tiger King, suspended.
In a post, Lowe bragged about the “unfathomable source of income” the Netflix series brought him. “Income that will guarantee the long term care of our animals and allow us to be very selective going forward.” Then he added, “As of today, we have decided to close the old zoo effective immediately.”
He also said he is “forfeiting [his] USDA exhibitors license.”
Joe Exotic, who’s serving a 22-year prison sentence in a murder-for-hire plot against Carole Baskin, was forced to give the zoo to his rival. But a judge gave Lowe time to close up shop before transferring it.

Clive Davis promises the upcoming Whitney Houston bio-pic will be a “no holds barred” portrait of the late singer-actress. His disappointment regarding previous documentaries on the ill-fated artist led to his hands-on involvement in this project.
The music mogul who guided Houston’s career will co-write the movie script. He tells the Variety podcast Strictly Business, “I have a mission… that the full picture of Whitney Houston is captured in a no-holds-barred film that is musically rich and shows her genius and more of her character than we have seen to date.”
The movie will use Whitney’s recordings, so whomever is cast won’t have to sing — opening up the role to actresses whose strengths aren’t musical.

Cuba Gooding Junior has been accused of rape — and the alleged victim is suing.
According to the lawsuit, obtained by TMZ, the woman says the Oscar-winner “coerced” her to his hotel room in 2013 and assaulted “her before falling asleep and allowing her to escape.”
Jane Doe is suing Gooding for a “crime of violence” based on gender and seeking damages.
Cuba’s attorney, Mark Heller, tells TMZ, “Clearly, this is a fabricated accusation that was never reported to the police — and forms no basis for any claim at this point with 7 years having passed.”
In October, Cuba pled not guilty to several charges in his sexual assault case. More than 20 women have accused him of sexual misconduct.

Tracy Morgan and his wife Megan have both filed for divorce — and TMZ says the split could get nasty.

Garner and Cooper’s attraction was always there, but they didn’t take that next step because they were always in a relationship with other people.”

John Ratzenberger, better known as mailman Cliff Clavin on Cheers, thinks he knows how to save the U.S. Postal Service.
The actor detailed his plan in a Cameo video.
Ratzenberger said, “The post office is in a little bit of a pickle right now. It is certainly in the news, being bounced back-and-forth so I had an idea. Why not do all your Christmas shopping early at the Post Office store?”
He encouraged fans to use the money they would have spent on Christmas gifts to buy stamps and send that to their family members instead. He explained, “It’s easy to carry, easy to mail, easy to ship. And it’s worth something, and it’ll be worth something for a long time.”

Reports are coming out of people complaining of eye irritation, tearing, and eye discomfort related to minty lip balms or even gum and breath mints while wearing a mask. According to doctors, the peppermint oil or menthol, depending on the product, will get trapped under the mask in a concentrated amount and migrate toward the eyes, causing irritation. When mint can dissipate in the open air, it’s no big deal, but when it’s concentrated under your mask and makes its way to the delicate eye area through the space between your nose and the top of the mask it can result in red, irritated, itchy, and watery eyes. You don’t want to be touching your face or your eyes when you are out and about in a pandemic — so skip the minty stuff when you’re wearing a mask. (Women’s Health)

Lately it seems everyone hates Ellen DeGeneres, but the embattled talk-show host has at least one friend left.
Kevin Hart had lunch with Ellen on Saturday after he defended the comedian, who’s been accused of treating guests badly and creating a toxic workplace at her show.
According to Us Weekly, the two dined at the Rosewood Miramar Beach in Montecito, California, and were “both dressed in tropical print button-down shirts and khaki shorts as they chatted while sipping wine.”
Earlier this month on Instagram, Kevin wrote, “It’s crazy to see my friend go thru what she’s going thru publicly. I have known Ellen for years and I can honestly say that she’s one of the dopest people on the [bleeping] planet.”
Ellen also supported Kevin in 2019 when he came under fire for tweets deemed homophobic as he prepared to host the Oscars that year.
