Did the pandemic change you? A new survey by Oracle found that 86% of respondents said the pandemic changed their personalities – for the better. Becoming more conscientious (40%) and open to new experiences (38%) were the most common personality changes, followed by being more agreeable (33%).

Not sure they needed a study to prove this … but it turns out that booze is an ice breaker that brings peoples closer together. Researchers from the University of Illinois found that when people were drinking, they got closer in physical proximity to others – even strangers.

Speaking of drinking … Now you can get your White Claw vacation going before you even get to your destination … Starting June 1st, United Airlines will offer White Claw hard seltzers for purchase on their flights over two hours. (Delish)

Speaking of hard seltzer … If a pickle-flavored hard seltzer has been missing from your life, do we have a dill for you … BrüMate is introducing “Afternoon Dillight Hard Pickle Seltzer.” The seltzers will hit shelves this summer, but if you want to stay up-to-date, you can join the “VIPickle list” at www.crookedBru.com. (USA Today)

I think we all KNOW it’s not a good way to start our day by hitting the snooze button a bunch of times.  But even hitting it twice could be a problem. According to a new study, if you stay in bed for just 14 minutes after your alarm goes off for the first time, it throws off your entire day. And since most snooze buttons give you nine minutes of peace until the alarm goes off again . . . that means if you hit it twice, you’ve already screwed up your day. The study also found the day when people hate waking up the most is Monday . . . and Tuesday came in second place.

Janet Jackson still hasn’t talked about Justin Timberlake‘s apology for that wardrobe malfunction, but three of her brothers just accepted it and said it’s time to move on.
Tito, Marlon and Jackie Jackson stopped by SiriusXM’s “Radio Andy” on Wednesday and talked about Justin’s involvement their sister’s most infamous moment. Marlon kicked off the love-fest by saying “You know, it takes a man to step up and do that, so we do thank him for doing that. We thank you, Justin, for what you did.”
Jackie chimed in by adding he appreciated Timberlake speaking out “because it kind of hurt Janet in the past. So for him to step up and say that, it means a whole lot.” (New York Post)

Amazon Prime Video released a pair of screen shots from the live-action Cinderella starring Camila Cabello.
The modern telling of the classic fairytale will be released to streaming in September. However, despite production concluding more than six months ago, the studio has yet to release a teaser trailer. Typically, that’s a troubling sign.
The chief at Amazon Studios, Jennifer Salke, said on Thursday, (quote) “The filmmaking team has taken this beloved fairytale and revamped it with a fresh, empowering perspective. We couldn’t be more excited for our global customers to sing and dance along to this reimagination of this classic story.”
Cinderella co-stars include Idina Menzel, Billy Porter, Minnie Driver, Pierce Brosnan, Missy Elliott, James Corden, John Mulaney and Nicholas Galitzine as the prince. (Deadline)

Joshua Nelson, who’s a senior at St. Charles West High School in Missouri, got some good news recently when he learned that he had earned a full scholarship to Southeast Missouri State University.
It was a big accomplishment for Joshua, which resulted in his tuition and living expenses being covered for four years.
It also resulted in a bit of a problem — sort of — as Joshua had been saving money for college … that he no longer needed.
Joshua solved this “problem” by creating a scholarship fund that would help another student make their college dreams come true. He put the money he had saved up into the Joshua Nelson Leaders in Action Scholarship — and invited others to add to the college fund.
Joshua is hoping to inspire local businesses and others in the community to match his starting donation so he can help other students with college tuition.
His school counselor, Yolanda Curry, fully supports his efforts and admires what Joshua is trying to do, explaining that “he just has a heart for people.” (WLS-TV)

Ellen DeGeneres has announced she is ending her talk show after 19-seasons.
The 63-year-old comedian and host informed her staff Tuesday that she will wrap the show at the end of the 2021-2022 season and told The Hollywood Reporter, “When you’re a creative person, you constantly need to be challenged – and as great as this show is, and as fun as it is, it’s just not a challenge anymore.” She adds that her decision to end the show was made a long time ago, and before claims were made about the alleged toxic work environment behind the scenes. She says she had initially wanted to stop after season 16, but was urged by affiliates to keep going.

Tiffany Haddish is ready to take Ellen DeGeneres’s daytime TV crown, according to Page Six.
The comedian has filled in for Ellen on several occasions, and with Ellen ending her talk show, a senior NBCUniversal source says, “Tiffany is a favorite… She’s top of the list to get a daytime show – she’s a fresh voice.”
As Page Six points out, “Ellen owns the rights to her show so it’s impossible to replace her without launching a fresh format with a new host.”
Haddish is currently the host of Kids Say The Darndest Things on CBS. She’ll have to compete with Kelly Clarkson, who’s a favorite to grab Ellen’s 3 p.m. time slot.

Phylicia Rashad is now a college dean.
According to TMZThe Cosby Show mom has joined Howard University as Dean of its College of Fine Arts.
She starts at the historically Black university on July 1st.
The actress is a Howard alum who graduated magna cum laude with a bachelor’s in fine arts. She also served as the late Chadwick Boseman‘s mentor when he attended Howard.

And, NBC’s hit tear-jerker drama This Is Us will end with its upcoming sixth season, according to The Hollywood Reporter.

Does the color of your sports drink affect your performance? Researchers from the University of Westminster in England found that having pink drinks seems to help athletes run faster and farther. In fact, researchers say pink drinks boost performance by 4.4%, and the color pink increases the “feel good” effect, making working out seem easier. Why is this? Researchers aren’t sure yet, but believe it could be because the color pink is associated with sweetness, which gives those who consume it expectations of a sugar and carb rush – even if those things aren’t in the drink.

Can your pets detect your perfect partner? new survey found that 67% of respondents would end a relationship if their pet doesn’t approve of the person they’re dating. 68% say their pet has the final say of who they date. And 70% said they trust their dog’s judgment over their own and more than family and friends. Some signs that your dog doesn’t like your date: Not going near them (47%), clawing/biting them (41%), and growling/hissing at them (40%).
On the other hand, these are signs your pet like someone:
  • Wagging tail/purring — 46%
  • Sharing their favorite toy — 45%
  • Rubbing up against them — 39%
  • Allows petting — 31%

If you’ve ever had a guy ghost you after three months of dating, don’t blame yourself, blame biology! According to psychotherapist Jack Worthy, all creatures are ruled by “evolutionary psychology” — a theory that divides romance into “short term mating” and “long term mating.” Humans are weird in that they can go either way at any given time. So with that in mind, men tend to feel emotions differently in the first three months from how women do, with guys having “an intuitive, animal draw” that’s more unconscious. Around the three-month mark, women start to drift into thoughts of the long term, but guys tend to let hormones rule — and if they’re cooling down, you get ghosted. Now, doesn’t that feel better? When Luna Glass of Staunton, Virginia, learned that her little sister’s teacher was battling breast cancer, she wanted to do something to help.
The timing was perfect as Luna had long hair, which meant she had something to give.
Luna — who’s in 7th grade and had only once before gotten her hair trimmed — took the plunge and got a big-time haircut.
Amazingly, the hair stylists were able to cut off over 24 inches of Luna’s hair and set it aside for a special wig, created for the teacher.
Luna admits the haircut was a big change, but one she was glad to make. She hopes her donation helps make things easier for the teacher — and also hopes it inspires others to lend a helping hand in any way they can. (WHSV-TV)

Sure, guard dogs are cool, but now they’re going to have to share top billing with guard cats. An animal group in Chicago has recruited a thousand feral cats to help protect the Windy City against a growing rodent invasion. The feisty felines are part of the Tree House Humane Society’s Cats at Work program, which takes strays, spays or neuters them, and then releases them to do their stuff. Just in time, too. Chicago was recently named “America’s rattiest city” by Orkin pest control. (WGN)

Jennifer Lopez and Ben Affleck look very much back together as the two reportedly spent a week together in Montana.
A source tells People magazine, “[Jennifer] spent several days with Ben out of town. They have a strong connection. It’s all been quick and intense, but Jennifer is happy.”
The two stars were seen in a car together near a resort in Big Sky, where Ben has a home. They were later spotted arriving back in L.A. on Saturday on a private jet.
This comes a few weeks after the two were seen hanging at her L.A. home.
Ben and Jen were engaged in 2002 but split in early 2004.
A source recently told People magazine, “They have a lot of love for each other. They have always admired each other.”

Everyone was surprised by Jennifer Lopez‘s reunion with Ben Affleck, but no one was as surprised as Alex Rodriguez.
The baseball legend was engaged to the singer up until a month ago, and a source tells E! News, “A-Rod is shocked that J.Lo has moved on. He truly thought they would be able to make it work and reconnect. He has been reaching out to J.Lo trying to meet with her and she has been very short with him.”
J. Lo and Ben pretty much confirmed their rekindled romance by taking a weeklong vacation in Montana. “They were alone,” an insider said. “Just the two of them.”
According to the source, Alex is “saddened” about his ex’s reunion with the Oscar-winner and has even reached out to her to let her know “he’s upset.”
The insider added, “She’s not interested in rekindling anything with A-Rod and is done.”

NBC won’t air the 2022 Golden Globes because of a lack of diversity within the Hollywood Foreign Press Association.
In a statement, the network said, “We continue to believe that the HFPA is committed to meaningful reform. However, change of this magnitude takes time and work, and we feel strongly that the HFPA needs time to do it right. As such, NBC will not air the 2022 Golden Globes. Assuming the organization executes on its plan, we are hopeful we will be in a position to air the show in January 2023.”
The move comes the same day Tom Cruise returned his Golden Globes in protest. He reportedly packed up his trophies for Born on the Fourth of July (best actor, drama), Jerry Maguire (best actor, comedy or musical) and Magnolia (best supporting actor) and sent them to the offices of the HFPA.
The HFPA has come under fire for not having any Black members. Though the organization insists it’s planning to make changes, including admitting 20 new members with a focus on Black recruitment, stars like Mark Ruffalo and Scarlett Johansson have called on Hollywood to “step back” from HFPA and the Globes.

Adele has lost her father, from whom she’d been estranged for years.
The British tabloid The Sun has reported that Mark Evans died today at age 57. He had been suffering from cancer.
Evans, who admittedly had major problems with alcoholism, left Adele’s mother when she was three and went back to his native Wales. Their relationship never recovered from it.
Evans had reportedly made a number of attempts to patch things up since Adele’s career took off, but things seem to get worse after he did interviews claiming that they’d gotten together for a drink, and later that they’d patched up what he called their “misunderstanding.” Adele had seemed less hostile towards him earlier in career, but at the Grammys in 2017 she spoke of loving her manager like he was her dad and added, “I don’t love my dad, that’s the thing. That doesn’t mean a lot. I love you like I would love my dad.”

Kelly Clarkson may not have Steven Tyler‘s moves down pat, but she captured his spirit in her latest Kelly-Oke outing — a cover of Aerosmith‘s “Dude (Looks Like a Lady”).
This isn’t Kel’s first Aerosmith rodeo. She’s previously performed renditions of “Don’t Want to Miss a Thing”, “Dream On” and “Cryin’.” You can catch the videos on the Kelly Clarkson Show’s YouTube channel.

Earlier this year in Toledo, Ohio, Jimmy Preston was driving along during a snowstorm and passed John Brandeberry walking along the road, heading in to work.
Jimmy stopped and gave John a ride to his job at a grocery store.
During that ride, Jimmy learned that John didn’t have a car or a driver’s license.
So, Jimmy did something about it. He worked with a local charity group to help John take driving lessons and pass the test to get his license. Jimmy took things even one step further setting up a GoFundMe campaign to hook John up with a car.
It all worked out perfectly.
Between the money raised with the GoFundMe campaign and a donation from a local car dealer, John got a beautiful 2013 Toyota Rav4, along with six months of car insurance. The Rav4 even has a bike rack and a new bike, so John can get around anywhere and everywhere he wants to go. (The Toledo Blade)

Jennifer Lopez isn’t the only ex on Ben Affleck‘s mind. On Sunday, he posted a Mother’s Day tribute to his ex-wife, Jennifer Garner.
He wrote, “So happy to share these kids with you. Luckiest parents in the world. Thanks for all the good you do. Happy Mother’s Day. Love, their Dad.”
Ben, who also shared photos of Jen with their three children, added, “I’m very grateful and respectful of her. Our marriage didn’t work, and that’s difficult. Both of us really believe that it’s important for kids to see their parents respect one another and get along, whether they’re together or not.”
The actor said that “it’s important for my kids to know that I respect and care about Jen and she treats me the same way.”
Ben and Jen were married from 2005 to 2018.

Actress and video vixen Tawny Kitaen died at her Newport Beach, California home Friday morning at the age of 59. A cause of death was not immediately revealed.
With roles in the 1984 Tom Hanks movie Bachelor Party, as well a 1991 episode of Seinfeld, she is best remembered for her seductive moves in and on the hood of a Jaguar in Whitesnake‘s video for 1987’s “Here I Go Again.”
She was marred to Whitesnake frontman David Coverdale from 1989 to 1991.
Tawny also had an affair with O.J. Simpson during his marriage to Nicole Brown Smith.
Tawney was married to former Major League pitcher Chuck Finley from 1997 to 2002. They split following Finley filing an assault charge against her.
Since then she’s had run-ins with the law for drug possession and driving under the influence.
She leaves behind two daughters from her marriage to Finley.

They used to be one of Hollywood’s most successful screen teams, but it seems Seth Rogen and James Franco won’t be appearing in a movie together any time soon.
Seth has finally broken his silence on his buddy’s alleged sexually inappropriate behavior. In an interview with The Sunday Times, Seth said, “What I can say is that I despise abuse and harassment and I would never cover or conceal the actions of someone doing it, or knowingly put someone in a situation where they were around someone like that.”
Will he ever work with Franco again? Rogen said, “I also look back to that interview in 2018 where I comment that I would keep working with James, and the truth is that I have not and I do not plan to right now.”
Still, Seth wouldn’t say that his friendship with James is over. “I don’t know if I can define that right now during this interview. I can say it, um, you know, it has changed many things in our relationship and our dynamic.”
The actors have co-starred in such movies as Pineapple ExpressThis Is the End, The Interview and The Disaster Artist.

Speaking of pets … A couple started a food truck … for dogs. Woofbowl, which operates in New York and New Jersey, sells burgers, fries, chicken nuggets, tacos, ice cream doughnuts, and nonalcoholic “beer” served in little red cups – just for dogs. (Insider)

Asleep on the job … An online mattress and bedding company is looking for someone to get paid for sleeping on the job. EachNight.com says it is researching the “pros and cons of napping” and they’re looking for “nap reviewers” to take daily naps for 30 days and then document how they feel. Now that almost 60% of adults in this country have gotten the Covid vaccine, is it cool to outright ask people if they’ve been vaccinated? According to a new survey, 24% of people say it’s RUDE to ask a friend whether or not they’ve gotten the vaccine.  68% say it’s not rude, and the rest aren’t sure. And this feels like kind of a surprise:  The younger you are, the more likely you are to say it’s rude to ask.

Get out the Kleenex, because Pink is in full-on ballad mode for her new single, the title track and theme song to her upcoming documentary All I Know So Far.
She dropped the single and the video — which borrows a vibe from The Princess Bride — on Friday morning. In the song, Pink advises the listener to stay strong, no matter what. She sings, “You throw your head back, and you spit in the wind/ Let the walls crack, ’cause it lets the light in/ Let ’em drag you through hell/ They can’t tell you to change who you are/ That’s all I know so far.”
The Michael Gracey-directed flick Pink: All I Know So Far hits Amazon Prime Video on May 21st.

Kelly Clarkson‘s long real estate nightmare is finally over — since she’s unloaded her Hendersonville, Tennessee mansion after four years of trying.
She and her then-husband Brandon Blackstock bought the four-acre spread back in 2012 for just over $2.8 million and put a load of work into it, even though they split their time between the Volunteer State and Southern California. They put the estate on the market back in 2017 at an asking price of $8.75 million, but didn’t find any takers. Kel cut the price several times after splitting from Blackstock, and ended up taking just $6.9 million.
Kel’s still got one more pad on the market — a mansion in Encino, California that’s up for grabs at $9 million. (Haute Residence)

Jared and Lindsey Brooks own a towing company in Lawrence County, Arkansas. Because of this business, cars come into their lives — and out of their lives — more often than the rest of us.
They have done their best to pay it forward with these vehicles by donating some of them each year to high schoolers in need.
For example, at the end of April, they found two students who were having trouble getting back and forth to work, and who were also recognized by school officials as being hard working and honest.
So, Jared and Lindsey hooked the two students up with reliable vehicles.
The vehicles are a big part of the students’ plans to go to college. And as for Jared and Lindsey, it’s not just about giving away cars. It’s also about family legacy. The couple are acting on advice that has been passed down from generation to generation, suggesting, “Don’t forget where you come from and don’t forget who put you there.” (KAIT-TV)

The Daily Dish – Friday, May 7

Ellen DeGeneres is living with another woman — Courteney Cox. But it’s not what you think.
On Thursday’s episode of Ellen, the comedian revealed she’s been staying at the Friends star’s home because she recently sold her Beverly Hills home.
“I’m not having marital troubles,” Ellen said about her wife Portia de Rossi. “I’m not living with Courteney Cox because I’m kicked out of my house.”
Courteney does have some issues with her new roommate. The actress said she sent her assistant over to make sure everything was okay at the house. “And all of the sudden it was like, ‘Wait a minute. Ellen’s toothbrush is on my side!’ I had her open the drawer and I was like, ‘Well, where’s my makeup?’ So essentially you’re a terrible roommate. You took over my side and your side.”
Ellen replied, “That was Portia who took over your side. I only have one side. She happened to be there one night.”

Four tigers were seized Thursday at Jeff Lowe‘s Tiger King Park in Thackerville, Oklahoma.
The Tiger King star, who was business partners with Joe Exotic, who owns the property, tells TMZ that federal authorities “executed a search and seizure warrant Thursday morning…and began taking animals away, which he believes is a violation of his constitutional rights.”
Jeff, who took over the zoo from Joe Exotic, claimed the feds refused to tell him why they seized the animals, but according to the warrant they’re taking animals protected by the Endangered Species Act.
There are no criminal charges to speak of yet and no arrests have been made. We’re told the feds were there to gather the big cats for “evidence.”
Netflix is planning to release Season Two of a Tiger King documentary series later this year. It’s not clear if the story revolves around Jeff Lowe.

Matthew Perry is the latest star to be outed as a user of the celebrity dating app Raya.
Kate Haralson recently posted a TikTok video of a private FaceTime call with the Friends star to expose how older men in Hollywood are “taking advantage” of younger women on dating apps.
Kate, who was 19 at the time, tells Page Six, “A lot of people were saying I’m a bully and mean for posting this, and it made me feel kind of bad, but at the same time, I feel like a lot of guys in Hollywood are talking to all these young girls and it’s something that I think a lot of people should be aware of.”
Kate says she “never even really watched Friends,” but agreed to talk with the actor because she thought it “would be funny.”
Perry allegedly suggested they play “20 Questions” to get to know each other better. Kate says none of the questions were sexual, but she did feel uncomfortable at times.
Kate, who’s now 20 and an L.A.-based personal assistant, claimed the Odd Couple star asked her at one point, “Am I as old as your dad?” She admitted that he was only about a year older than her father, which she claimed Matthew “laughed off.”
Haralson said she was “inspired” by the TikTok video another user posted of Ben Affleck after matching with him on Raya.
But Kate says she decided to remove her video because she “did feel a little bit bad,” adding that Perry really was a “nice guy.”
