Tuesday night, Taylor Swift appeared on The Late Show with Stephen Colbert. By the end of their eight-minute chat, fans were convinced she dropped several Easter egg hints that 1989 will be the next re-recorded album.
First off, Taylor chose to be in her recording studio for the video conference interview. Just to make it clear where she spends her days. A few hardcore Swifties played with clues they detected to predict Taylor will release the 1989 album on Friday June 4 and a single on May 14. Though, more likely the date could be Thursday evening, May 13 – Stephen Colbert’s birthday.
The most obvious hint had to be when Taylor told Stephen to “Shake It Off.” She also mentioned “New York,” which had people thinking it referred to the first track on the 1989 album, “Welcome to New York.” (Entertainment Weekly)

Demi Lovato will return to TV starring in an NBC sitcom.
“Hungry” is about of group of friends with food issues. The press release says, (quote) “They help each other look for love, success and the perfect thing in the fridge that’s going to make it all better.”
Scooter Braun and his SB Projects colleagues will produce the single-camera sitcom. Demi earned an Executive Producer title. (Variety)

Christina Aguilera did not feel “Beautiful” in her early days in the spotlight — because she thought she was too darn skinny.
She tells Health magazine, “I think we all have our good days and our bad days in how we feel about ourselves. Entering this business, I hated being super skinny. Once I turned 21, I started filling out a little bit, and I was loving my new curves. I appreciated having a booty.”
Now that she’s hit 40, X-Tina believes she’s really hit her stride. “As you age, you stop comparing yourself to other people and start appreciating your body and owning it. With age, you figure out that life is too short to waste time thinking about what other people think about you.”

St. Louis Cardinals pitcher Jack Flaherty purchased thousands of books from a local bookstore — and donated those books to The Boys and Girls Club of Greater St. Louis.
This was just the latest generous act to help out The Boys and Girls Club. He previously donated masks to keep kids and staff there safe from coronavirus and he also donated $5,000 to support health and fitness programs there.
This time around, Jack chose to give the kids books because he was an avid reader growing up and wanted them to follow in his footsteps. He made sure to include some of his personal favorites and said he hopes the stories will inspire the next generation, regardless of the career paths they choose. (KTVI-TV)

CBS daytime show, The Talk, returned on Monday. This was the first show in one month. Production went on hiatus while CBS investigated Sharon Osbourne. They parted ways with Sharon getting a $10 million golden parachute.
Sheryl Underwood addressed the elephant in the room, (quote) “We need to process the events, so we can get to the healing. By the end of the hour, we want everyone to feel ready to move forward.”
Underwood confirmed Sharon’s account that her apologetic texts went unanswered. She told The Talk audience that she declined to respond because of the ongoing CBS investigation. Sheryl added, (quote) “If Sharon greeted me warmly, I would give her that in the same. I want people to understand when you’re friends, you stay friends.”
Co-host Elaine Welteroth said, (quote) “There have been a lot of false narratives spun in the media that frame both Sheryl and myself as co-conspirators in attacking Sharon. That is absolutely categorically false and unfair.”
During the discussion with a trauma specialist, Underwood confessed, (quote) “I feel like I’ve been in PTSD. I really wanted to get back to work with my friends and my colleagues and the crew.” (Entertainment Tonight)

Harvey Weinstein doesn’t want to go to L.A.
The disgraced movie producer wants to remain in a New York prison and is fighting extradition on “humanitarian grounds.” His lawyer Norman Effman says that he’s basically blind and has lost four teeth behind bars. He has medical procedures scheduled to address both issues. Effman says this is on top of previously documented cardiac issues, diabetes and back pain.
A new hearing is set for later in the month. (TMZ)

Last year’s edition of American Idol was really weird, thanks to the COVID pandemic — in fact, it was so weird that producers are bringing back the finalists for another shot this year.
The 2020 edition was just about to kick off when California went into lockdown, and the top ten contestants were forced to compete remotely from their homes. A year later, the Idol folks have decided that wasn’t fair, so they’re bringing back ten of the top-20 for a do-over on a show that will air April 19th. Voting will go on for two weeks, since the Academy Awards will pre-empt the show on the 26th.
Last year’s champion, Just Sam, was not asked back because she has already won the show. Two other finalists, Dillon James and Francisco Martin, snagged record deals, so they weren’t eligible to compete again. (Billboard)

TODAY IS:
  • Make Lunch Count Day: A good day to step away from your desk – or wherever your laptop is these days – and take an actual lunch.
  • Scrabble Day: A good day to play with words.
  • Thomas Jefferson Day: Celebrates the birthday of the third President of The United States, Thomas Jefferson, who was born on April 13th, 1743.

Can you guess what the most popular drink in America is? Here’s a hint: You probably don’t start your day without it. Yep, according to a new survey, 60% of people say coffee is their most necessary daily drink … even more than water. And the majority of people have at least two cups a day. (Eat This, Not That)

A pitcher for the University of North Texas softball team tossed the most perfect game imaginable on Sunday, striking out every single batter she faced. Hope Trautwein faced 21 batters in the seven-inning game and mowed them all down on the way to a 3-0 win over University of Arkansas – Pine Bluff. It is believed to be the first perfect game in NCAA Division 1 history in which every out recorded was a strikeout. (Yahoo Sports)

If you own a dog and have come home to your pup smelling like another dog, chances are your furry friend will give you the cold shoulder out of jealousy. Think dogs can’t get jealous? Think again. A new study found that dogs don’t just get jealous when they are around a rival for their favorite person’s attention, they can actually dream up scenarios that make them feel jealousy even if it’s not happening in front of them. The research is significant because jealousy as an emotion is linked to being “self-aware,” something most people think distinguishes humans from animals. It might be time to stop joking around about your dog “thinking” he’s human because, as most owners already know, dogs might actually be smarter than we are — and science is finally catching on.

During a recent interview, Kaku said he believes that humans will make contact with aliens within the next century because we’ll soon have a telescope with the power to see thousands of new planets.
But, he thinks contacting aliens would be a “terrible idea.” While Kaku thinks that aliens out there would be friendly, he doesn’t advise that we gamble on it. (The Guardian)

Pop star The Weeknd sold his 7-bedroom mansion to Madonna for $19 million.
The estate sits on three acres of land. There’s a guest house with two bedrooms. The main mansion features his and hers master suites. Also, a wine cellar, fitness studio, media theater, basketball court and five-car garage.
Surprisingly, The Weeknd paid $18 million right after the release of his Starboy album. In this sellers’ real estate market, right now where buyers are overbidding on homes, it appears that Madonna got a steal of a deal. (People)

John Mellencamp tells AmericanSongwriter.com that a chance encounter while driving inspired his song, ‘Pink Houses’. ”I was driving through Indianapolis, when I saw a black man holding a black cat while lounging on his front lawn. The man was sitting on his front lawn in front of a pink house in one of those cheap lawn chairs. I thought, ‘Wow, is this what life can lead to? Watching the cars go by on the interstate?,’ Then I imagined he wasn’t isolated, but he was happy. So, I went with that positive route when I wrote this song.”

8-year-old Lilly Bumpus of San Bernardino, California, has had a busy year as a Girl Scout. She broke the national record for most boxes sold in one season with 32,484 boxes.
The achievement was even more incredible because, last summer, Lilly celebrated seven years of being cancer free after being born with the disease.
Lilly’s mother Trish offered insight into Lilly’s motivation by saying that Lilly “does not like somebody telling her something is not possible.”
Lilly and her parents made it all possible by making cookie deliveries before and after school — and even setting up a booth outside their home.
The cookie sales record even included 5,000 donation boxes that will go to kids battling cancer in hospitals, to help feed the homeless, and to deployed troops.
For Lilly, it was a successful cookie-selling season indeed. (People)

Nick and Mariah Carey famously had Moroccan and Monroe in April 2011. Now he and DJ Abby De La Rosa are expecting twins. Some people in the Dominican Republic aren’t too happy to have Vin Diesel as a neighbor.
They accuse Vin’s security detail of being overly aggressive. One fed-up neighbor wrote him a letter that reads, “For a few weeks I have personally witnessed and heard from fellow homeowners the unprecedented and abusive display of your security people around our homes and beach. Interrogating us, blocking our street with five or six SUVs. Stopping residents while walking when you ride your bicycle.”
But a source close to Vin says he’s been vacationing there for 20 years and gotten along with everyone. The source says he even handed out Easter baskets to people in the area, and that the only reason for the heavy security during the bike-riding incident was that his whole family was there. (TMZ)

Coffee Talk from Honor Credit Union – Monday, April 12

coast-coffee-talk-flipper
Today is National Grilled Cheese Sandwich Day. According to a survey in honor of the holiday, 87% of Americans say they like grilled cheese. The top five cheeses we want in our sandwiches are:  Cheddar . . . American . . . Swiss . . . provolone . . . and pepper jack. And finally, grilled cheeses are our SECOND favorite melted cheese food.  Pizza came in first . . . grilled cheese and mac and cheese tied for second . . . and cheeseburgers came in fourth.  That’s some incredibly stiff competition.

Did you let yourself go during the pandemic? A new survey found that 46% said they were definitely not the best version of themselves over the last year. Of those, 60% said they gained weight, 53% said they ate unhealthy foods, 49% said they drank too much, 49% said they lost touch with family and friends, 46% said they stopped wearing makeup or shaving, 43% said they stopped grooming themselves on a daily basis, and 38% started smoking again.
Maybe that’s why the same survey found that 68% said they plan to improve themselves (both mentally and physically) when the pandemic finally ends.

Do you and your partner sleep in separate beds? YouGov poll found that while 66% said sleeping in the same bed with their significant other was the ideal situation, 7% said that if it didn’t affect their relationship, they would rather sleep in their own bed in the same room, while 9% said their ideal sleeping situation would be sleeping in their own bed in a separate room. Women were more likely than men to say they wanted to sleep in their own beds, but this may be why: a previous YouGov poll found that 56% of women said they did not get enough sleep at night compared to 48% of men.

Do you sit down and eat dinner at night as a family? Do you do it without phones? A new study out of Spain has found that sitting around the dinner table without phones could prevent childhood obesity. Why? Conversation and slower eating help you realize when you’re full. Basically, eating in front of a screen leads to mindless eating and over-eating.

We’re finally getting the inside story behind Janet Jackson’s 2004 Super Bowl “wardrobe malfunction.”
The stylist who put together the outfits for Miss Jackson and Justin Timberlake is telling all as he prepares to put out a new book full of show biz stories. Scot Lukas said that JT “insisted on doing something bigger than their performance. He wanted a reveal.”
He says the original plan was for Jackson to rock a pearl G-string which would be exposed after Timberlake stepped on her dress. Lukas says of the famous moment seen around the world, “I wouldn’t call it a wardrobe ‘malfunction’ in a million years. It was the most functioning wardrobe in history. As a stylist, it did what it was intended to do.”
He also revealed that there is apparently no bad blood between the two performers over what happened. He told Page Six, “Janet has already forgiven Justin in private. They made their peace a long time ago.”

Black Eyed Peas found Will.I.Am is doing more than making music – he’s making smart masks. The rapper teamed up with Honeywell and a Hollywood design studio to create high-tech face masks that have built-in, noise-cancelling headphones, HEPA filters, a charging port, and L-E-D lights. The futuristic face masks come in two color combos and are now selling for $299 dollars.

Carl Wallace owns Diablo’s Southwest Grill in Augusta, Georgia — and recently had to deal with a burglary. Video of the thief carrying something out of the restaurant was captured on a security camera.
Carl posted the video on Facebook. But instead of asking people to track down the burglar in order to punish him, Carl did something very unexpected. He invited the guy to apply for a job.
On Facebook, Carl wrote, “To the would-be robber who is clearly struggling with life decisions or having money issues … please swing by for a job application,” going so far as to share his personal phone number for the man to get in touch with him. “No police. No questions. Let’s sit down and talk about how we could help you and fix the road you’re on.”
Many people applauded Carl for his compassion.
Carl responded by downplaying the decision, explaining, “I can’t fix the world, I can’t save the world, but I can make a difference in one person’s life.” (WIFR-TV)

According to The Telegraph, cops have been called to their Montecito estate nine times in nine months. That’s how long they’ve lived in the home, which they bought last July.
The calls ranged from phone requests, alarm activations and property crimes. For instance on Christmas Eve, police were called after a man allegedly trespassed on the property.
During their sit-down with Oprah, Harry and Meghan talked about their security concerns and Markle revealed that she had pleaded with the royal family not to take away their personal protection.

Taylor Swift just brought some new life to a blast from the past — by recruiting pal Jack Antonoff to help rework “Mr. Perfectly Fine,” the latest teaser from Fearless (Taylor’s Version).
The song was recorded during the 2008 sessions for Fearless, but never released. It’s one of Tay’s trademark breakup songs, with lines like “Hello, Mr. perfectly fine/ How’s your heart after breaking mine?/ Mr. always at the right place at the right time/ Baby. Hello/ Mr. casually cruel/ Mr. everything revolves around you.”
She hinted on social media that the song was autobiographical, saying, “Me in 2020: Life is chill, writing songs based in fiction to avoid drama, feeling pretty grown up. My 2008 music from the vault, in a goblin voice: REELEEEEEEEASE MR. PERFECTLY FIIIIIIIIINE.”
That’s a not-so-subtle signal that the song might be about Joe Jonas, who dumped Taylor shortly before she recorded Fearless.

Elton John tells Distractify.com that he knew his husband, David, was the one for him. “I was attracted to David immediately. He had a real job, his own apartment, a car. He was independent. 81-year-old Linda Summers of Dallas, Texas, was in need of some cheering up, so she looked out the window of her apartment building and saw a woman walking a little dog. She then had the urge to run out of her apartment and pet that dog.
She ended up not giving in to that urge — but later decided to put a message up on a neighborhood social media app in hopes of discovering who that woman was so she could ask for a quick visit.
People in her community responded to that message in a big way.
One after another, Linda’s neighbors stepped up and offered to bring their dogs over for a visit. It was overwhelming to the point that Linda couldn’t even keep up with all the offers for visits.
Before long, Linda received more than 300 responses.

Jennifer Lopez‘s romance with Alex Rodriguez has barely cooled off, but she may soon be heating things up with ex-beau Ben Affleck.
Ben recently had plenty of nice things to say about J-Lo in a story for In Style magazine, and a member of her inner circle says that’s no surprise. The insider tells OK! magazine they’ve “been talking in private a lot over the past few months, and now the world knows just how close the two of them are again. When things started to get bad with Alex, Jen turned to Ben for advice.”
But does that necessarily mean they’re going to hook up? The source tells OK! “She is the rebound girl when it comes to love. After she broke up with Ben, Jen went running back to the arms of Marc Anthony. If she breaks up with Alex, it makes sense she will go running back to Ben.”

Over the weekend on her podcast, Sheryl said she had not spoken with Sharon since their CBS show went on hiatus. She claimed that Sharon never apologized.
Sharon replied with receipts. She has screenshots of four, apologetic text messages to Sheryl over a span of eight days. All of them went unanswered. Sharon told the Daily Mail, (quote) “I not only sent these messages to Sheryl, but I apologized to her in person in her dressing room.”
Addressing Sheryl directly, Sharon rhetorically asked, (quote) “Why are you trying to destroy my reputation?” (Daily Mail)

More details have emerged behind the withdrawal of Regé-Jean [pr: ray-GAY szhon] Page from Bridgerton.
He initially agreed to a one-year deal for the Netflix series. Once Rege-Jean became a breakout star in the first season, producers needed The Duke of Hastings for the second season.
Regé-Jean turned down their offer of $50,000 per episode. The script called for The Duke to appear in just three episodes. He saw no need to return after “sticking the landing” in the first season.
Bridgerton is based on the book series by author Julia Quinn. Each book focused on one sibling of the Bridgerton family. Season one of the Netflix series started with Daphne, who (spoiler alert) married The Duke and had a baby. This coming season will be about her oldest brother, Anthony. (The Hollywood Reporter)

Scientists think they’ve figured out why redheads have a higher tolerance for pain…and it has something to why they’re so vulnerable to sunburns. Researchers at Massachusetts General Hospital found the cells that determine hair and skin color (melanocytes) also change how we process pain. A cell mutation that makes redheads ‘red’ and causes them to sunburn quickly also boosts their threshold for pain.

Speaking of eating … our dogs got bigger in quarantine too. A new UK study found that the average dog has put on a whopping 7 pounds since the beginning of the pandemic. Seems dogs have been getting more treats with their owners home during the day. And apparently guys are more generous with the treats. Pets with male owners gained an average of nine pounds each over the year, compared to six pounds for pups with female owners. (Metro)
