Two sisters from Nebraska who haven’t seen each other in 53 years were – amazingly – reunited, due to coronavirus.Back in May, 73-year-old Doris Crippen ended up in the emergency room and battled back from coronavirus.When Doris was released from the hospital, she had to spend some extra time getting some rehab work on her arm.It was in the rehab center that she encountered a wonderful surprise … Her long-lost sister, 53-year-old Bev Boro, was working there.Bev recognized Doris’ name on a patient board – and the lives of the two women changed forever.Doris and Bev have the same father, but different mothers – and they haven’t seen each other in 53 years, when Bev was just a baby.Doris admitted that she had tried to find her siblings several times over the years, but failed.It ended up taking a global pandemic to, finally, bring these two women together… and inspire them to begin planning a family reunion. Queen Elizabeth is abandoning Buckingham Palace — at least for this year.According to Britain’s Sunday Times, the monarch won’t return to the palace, which is her primary residence, “for the foreseeable future.”The Queen will “continue working from Windsor [Castle] and is understood to be keen on commuting into London for engagements and events at Buckingham Palace, if it is considered safe for her to do so,”She would usually return to Buckingham Palace in October following her summer holiday in Scotland. But this year, she’ll return to Windsor. It’s believed to be the longest period in her 68-year reign that she’s spent away from Buckingham Palace.In other royal news, Prince Harry and Meghan Markle’s infant son Archie will become a prince, despite the couple not giving the infant a title when he was born. According to the Express, Archie will automatically get the title when his grandfather, Prince Charles, ascends to the throne.
A live-action version of The Powerpuff Girls is in development at The CW, according to Variety. The series will follow the “now disillusioned 20-somethings who resent having lost their childhood to crime fighting.” Juno screenwriter Diablo Cody is one of the executive producers.
The Nutty Professor is getting another remake, this time from the production company behind Scream 5. The 1963 Jerry Lewis comedy was last remade in 1996 with Eddie Murphy.
Backstreet’s back competing for the mirror ball. Miley Cyrus took to her Instagram over the weekend to reveal that her grandmother “Mammie” died.Loretta Finley was 85-years old and known to Cyrus’s fans through her appearances with the singer over the years, including being on The Voice in 2016. Cyrus wrote, “Even though you are gone… NOTHING has or ever will change. You will FOREVER be my inspiration and fashion icon. Even more than that, the ultimate model of being a true LIGHT in a dark world.”In another post Cyrus wrote about an appearance with Snoop Dogg, with a caption that said “Mammie baking brownies with Snoop Dogg — she never knew we snuck weed in them.”

Larry King has broken his silence on the deaths of two of his children in the last three weeks.On Sunday the TV journalist wrote on Facebook, “It is with sadness and a father’s broken heart that I confirm the recent loss of two of my children, Andy King and Chaia King. Both of them were good and kind souls and they will be greatly missed.”Chaia was 51 and Andy was 65.King explains that “Andy passed away unexpectedly of a heart attack on July 28th, and Chaia passed on August 20th, only a short time after having been diagnosed with lung cancer. Losing them feels so out of order. No parent should have to bury a child.”The 86-year-old TV host is also the father to three adult sons, Larry Junior, Chance and Cannon.
Paris Hilton opens up about her troubled teen years in the upcoming documentary This Is Paris, where she reveals that she was abused at a boarding school in Utah.She tells People magazine, “People might assume everything in my life came easy to me, but I want to show the world who I truly am.”The Simple Life star says she was a rebellious teen, which prompted her parents to send her to several boarding schools in the late 1990s. The last one was Utah’s Provo Canyon School, where she stayed for 11 months.Paris says, “From the moment I woke up until I went to bed, it was all day screaming in my face, yelling at me, continuous torture.”She adds that “the staff would say terrible things. They were constantly making me feel bad about myself and bully me. I think it was their goal to break us down. And they were physically abusive, hitting and strangling us. After failing to make the ballot in Wisconsin this week, Kanye West hasn’t given up hope in his run for President — and he’s given us an update on where he stands.Kanye will appear as an independent on ballots in one-fifth of the country. Friday, he tweeted he would be present on ballots in “…Oklahoma, Arkansas, Vermont, West Virginia, Colorado, Iowa, Utah, Minnesota, Tennessee and Virginia.”
Since most of us can’t go out to shows right now, OneRepublic frontman Ryan Tedder wants to bring shows to us — in a new concert docu-series he’s planning.Ryan detailed the concept in an Instagram live chat, saying, “It’s the most famous venues in the world, which are now sitting dormant for the next 12 or 15 months. Basically I miss Unplugged, I miss MTV Behind the Music. According to a new survey, more than one-in-five college students won’t be enrolling in college this fall.We’ve already seen some problems with coronavirus-related shutdowns and movements to online-only learning on the campuses of Notre Dame, North Carolina and Penn State — among others.In response to the uncertainty that we’re all dealing with, 22% of college students looking for a “normal” on-campus experience are choosing to sit the year out and try again in 2021. Have you taken your dog for a walk today? In Germany, a law has been introduced that would make it mandatory for owners to take their dogs for walks at least twice a day – for a minimum of one hour (in total). The proposed “Dogs Act” also states that owners would not be able to leave dogs chained up or alone for an entire day and puppies would be required to have human companionship for at least four hours a day. Agriculture Minister Julia Klöckner said in a recent interview, “Pets are not cuddly toys; their needs have to be taken into account.” If passed, the law could go into effect next year. (BBC)
Speaking of puppies … A group of puppies recently took a field trip to Sea World in San Diego. The park is closed, so the puppies were allowed to roam around and even get up close to the shark and dolphin enclosures. SeaWorld teamed up with Mission Bay Puppy Rescue and Pups’N Boots to organize the event, with the goal of raising awareness for adoption. But a study from Finland may have discovered what could potentially be a real cure. Researchers from the University of Helsinki and the University of Eastern Finland found that the amnio acid L-cysteine decreased hangover symptoms like nausea, headache, stress and anxiety. Britney Spears struck out yet again on Wednesday, when a California judge dismissed her latest attempt to have her dad removed from her conservatorship.The court ruled that Jamie Spears would retain control of Brit’s finances, while “temporary” conservator Jodi Montgomery would be in charge of everything else. For what it’s worth, Britney is fine with Montgomery’s work — she just wanted to boot her dad.Brit got some surprise support from her mostly forgotten first husband Jason Alexander, who she was married to for three days back in 1994. He showed up to tell the paparazzi, “I wanna see Britney get what she rightly deserves. From pretty regular conversations, she doesn’t want to be under the conservatorship. Joe Exotic‘s zoo has closed permanently.This comes after current owner Jeff Lowe had his license to operate the animal park, made famous in the Netflix docu-series Tiger King, suspended.In a post, Lowe bragged about the “unfathomable source of income” the Netflix series brought him. “Income that will guarantee the long term care of our animals and allow us to be very selective going forward.” Then he added, “As of today, we have decided to close the old zoo effective immediately.”He also said he is “forfeiting [his] USDA exhibitors license.”Joe Exotic, who’s serving a 22-year prison sentence in a murder-for-hire plot against Carole Baskin, was forced to give the zoo to his rival. But a judge gave Lowe time to close up shop before transferring it.
Clive Davis promises the upcoming Whitney Houston bio-pic will be a “no holds barred” portrait of the late singer-actress. His disappointment regarding previous documentaries on the ill-fated artist led to his hands-on involvement in this project.The music mogul who guided Houston’s career will co-write the movie script.
