Amazon’s “Transparent” To Officially End After Season 5 Following Jeffrey Tambor’s Firing

The Amazon series Transparent will end its fifth and final season with a musical episode. Series creator Jill Soloway revealed the news in a New York Times profile, announcing that show will conclude with a two-hour musical installment to be shot later this year and airing next fall. Soloway said, “this idea of music rescuing our family was all there. So we’re like, Let’s just keep blowing on the flame. The Pfeffermans will live on, and that’s what kept us going.” Earlier this year, Transparent made headlines after allegations of inappropriate behavior and sexual harassment were brought against series star Jeffrey Tambor. Tambor was fired from the show in February, almost three months after being accused of sexually harassing Van Barnes, his former assistant,  and Trace Lysette, an actress on the series. ‘A Star Is Born’ Soundtrack Debuts At No. 1 On Billboard 200 Albums Chart

The soundtrack for A Star is Born — credited to performers Gaga and Bradley Cooper as lead artists — has debuted at No. 1 on the Billboard 200 chart. This makes Gaga the only woman to have five No. 1 albums this decade, as the film finishes its second weekend in wide theatrical release. ​Ariana Grande And Pete Davidson Split, Engagement Called Off​

Ariana Grande and Pete Davidson have ended their engagement after just four months. On Sunday, October 14, TMZ reported that the couple split over the weekend, with the singer and the comedian acknowledging that is was “not the right time for their relationship to take off.” Grande, 25, and Davidson, 24, got engaged in June after only a few weeks of dating, with Grande showing off a huge $100,000 diamond ring. The split comes as Grande has been going through a difficult time in the wake of her ex-boyfriend Mac Miller’s death. The rapper and Grande dated for almost two years until their split in May. Harvey Weinstein Scores Victory With Dismissal Of One Sexual Assault Charge

On Thursday, a New York judge dismissed part of the criminal sexual assault case against Harvey Weinstein after prosecutors said they could not oppose the dismissal in light of information they had learned while investigating the case. According to the associated press, the dismissed charge relates to Weinstein accuser Lucia Evans. Evans previously had told the New Yorker that Weinstein had forced her to perform oral sex on him in 2004. Five other charges, involving alleged assaults of two other women, remain. Weinstein has pleaded not guilty to all the charges. Weinstein’s lawyer, Benjamin Brafman, said he would seek dismissal of the remaining charges as well.  Following the hearing, the office of Manhattan District Attorney Cyrus Vance made public a letter it had sent to Brafman last month disclosing that an unnamed witness had told them that she had heard an account of the alleged assault from Evans, and it was different from the one Evans originally gave to DA’s office.... ‘True Detective’ Season 3 Release Date Announced By HBO

HBO announced that the third season of True Detective will return on Jan. 13, 2019. The show’s official Twitter account wrote alongside a video promo of star Mahershala Ali “Starring Mahershala Ali, returns January 13, 2019.”  A teaser trailer was released in August for the upcoming season starring Ali as Detective Wayne Hays, an Arkansas state police detective, and revealing that this season will be set in the Ozarks. Netflix Renews ‘Ozark’ For Season 3

On Wednesday, Netflix and Ozark star Jason Bateman announced that the original series has been renewed for a third season. Bateman tweeted, “I’m happy for me, but concerned for Marty – it’s official OZARK 3 is on the way.”  Bateman stars as Marty Byrde, a family man and money launderer for a Mexican drug cartel. The second season of Ozark premiered at the end of August and found the Byrde family, in particlar Wendy (Laura Linney), diving further into the world of crime. Jordana Spiro, Janet McTeer, and Julia Garner also star on the series. Ozark received 5 nominations at last month’s Emmys, including Best Actor and Best Director for Bateman.  Ozark season 3 has yet to confirm a release date, but is expected to arrive around late summer or early autumn in 2019.... Taylor Swift won three awards at the 2018 American Music Awards, including artist of the year. Those three AMAs have now made her the most decorated musician ever in AMA history. Swift made her first awards show appearance at the AMAs in three years with her performance of “I Did Something Bad.” Tracee Ellis Ross hosted the American Music Awards, in which fans vote for the winners. The show aired Tuesday on ABC from the Microsoft Theater in Los Angeles; Swift, Cardi B, Post Malone, Camila Cabello were also among the performers. Dove Cameron Scores Lead Role In ‘Clueless: The Musical’

Disney actress Dove Cameron will be assuming the role of Alicia Silverstone’s character, Cher, in the upcoming Off Broadway production of “Clueless: The Musical.” The musical, based off the 1995 film of the same name, is set for a limited engagement beginning November 20th and running through January 13th. CBS Announces ‘The World’s Best’ In 2019

CBS has announced a brand new international talent competition series from celebrated television producers Mike Darnell and Mark Burnett. James Corden, Emmy Award-winning host of The Late Late Showwith James Corden, will host The World’s Best and pull double duty as executive producer. Damon Wayans Announces His Departure From ‘Lethal Weapon’

Damon Wayans is set to exit Fox’s television adaptation of Lethal Weapon after production wraps on 13 new episodes for Season 3. Wayans made the announcement Wednesday during an interview, where the actor said his decision to leave the show stemmed from having long work days and wanting to spend more time with his family.  “I’m a 58-year-old diabetic and I’m working 16-hour days,” Wayans said. “Like Murtaugh say, ‘Too old for this.'” Wayans said he plans on returning to stand-up comedy in 2019. ‘Venom’ Tops ‘A Star Is Born’ For October’s Opening Weekend Box Office

The movie “Venom” is expected to set an opening weekend record for October with an estimated $80 million from 4,250 theaters. Venom, which stars Tom Hardy as Eddie Brock (aka the eponymous anti-hero Venom), will beat the last October record-holder, “Gravity,” which debuted in 2013 to $55.7 million. Directed by Ruben Fleischer and also starring with Michelle Williams alongside Hardy, “Venom” earned $32.75 million on Friday. The weekend’s other major opener, Lady Gaga and Bradley Cooper’s “A Star Is Born,” is expected to make $42 million from 3,686 domestic sites. Kaley Cuoco To Voice Harley Quinn For Upcoming DC Universe Animated Series

The Big Bang Theory star Kaley Cuoco has a new job, and will voice the title role in the upcoming Harley Quinn animated series. CBS announced in August that The Big Bang Theory will end with its current 12th season. The actress announced the news about Harley Quinn on Wednesday, October 3, during a surprise appearance at New York Comic-Con, where DC Universe also unveiled a teaser for the show. Cuoco told the audience, “I’ve always loved animation. I did it years ago, and I haven’t been in the animation world in a while. [Harley] is so edgy. Tina Turner Musical Is Headed To Broadway

A musical depicting the life and career of the legendary Tina Turner will be opening on Broadway this fall. The show made its debut in London’s West End, and now will be coming to Broadway in the fall of 2019. Turner shared in a statement, “bringing this musical to life on stage and working with this team has meant so much to me, I feel that it is in many ways a culmination of my career.” Tony Award nominee Adrienne Warren, who plays the titular part in the production’s London cast, is expected to reprise her role in the New York show, but official casting information has not been released. Johnny Depp Talks Backlash From Ex-Wife Amber Heard’s Abuse Allegations

Johnny Depp is opening up about the difficult year he’s had after his ex-wife, actress Amber Heard, accused him of physically abusing her. According to previous reports, Depp and Heard ended their marriage in early 2017 after she accused him of attacking her and throwing an iPhone in her face, which he denies. At the time, she phoned the police, who arrived and found no evidence of a crime. Depp  agreed to pay her $7 million to finally end the marriage, but still maintains her allegations are completely false. Speaking in an interview with GQ magazine for its November edition, Depp opened up about the backlash he’s received and being labeled an abuser of women. Depp said: “I could feel people look at me differently, because of the accusations towards you. And then people start putting things in magazines: ‘He’s insane. He needs to take a sanity test…’ You know, ludicrous stuff. But the only thing that I could do was know what I still know. Ultimately, the truth will come out in all of this and I will be standing on the right side of the roaring rapids. Sylvester Stallone Offers First Look At The Fifth Installment Of ‘Rambo’

Sylvester Stallone shared a first look at the upcoming Rambo 5 on Instagram, with the caption, “Tonight we start filming.”  In this latest installment, when the daughter of one of his friends is kidnapped, Stallone’s Rambo, who has been working on a ranch, crosses the U.S.-Mexico border and quickly finds himself up against the full might of one of Mexico’s most violent cartels. The “Rambo” franchise launched in 1982 with First Blood, followed by Rambo: First Blood Part II (1985), Rambo III (1988) and Rambo (2008). Christopher Reeve’s ‘Superman: The Movie’ Returning To Theater For 40th Anniversary

Superman: The Movie, the 1978 film with Christopher Reeve as the Man of Steel, will play in more than 500 movie theaters across the U.S. on Sunday, Nov. 25 at 2 p.m. and 7 p.m. local time, and again on Tuesday, Nov. 27. The return comes in time for the 40th anniversary of the film’s premiere and the 80th anniversary of the character’s creation. Max Fleischer’s 10-minute-long animated Superman short “Mechanical Monsters” will screen before Superman: The Movie — its first time shown on the big screen since its debut in 1941. Taylor Swift is heading back to the American Music Awards stage for the first time in over 3 years.  Swift announced on Tuesday that she’s set to open the show with “I Did Something Bad” in what will be her first performance since she sang “Blank Space” in 2014. Swift made the announcement via video which first aired during “Good Morning America.” With her cat Meredith, Taylor said in the video, “Good morning, America, it’s Taylor. After stirring controversy with his “Saturday Night Live” speech about President Donald Trump after the show went off the air this weekend, Kanye West took to social media to offer his thoughts about the 13th Amendment. Kanye West Goes On Pro-Trump Rant On ‘SNL’ And Gets Booed

Kanye West went on pro-Trump rant at the end of his appearance on “Saturday Night Live,” which never made the air, due to time constraints (according to SNL.) West, who had declared Saturday morning that he should now be called “Ye,” wore a red “Make America Great Again” hat for much of his time as the musical guest on Saturday’s premiere of the 44th season of SNL. After he performed “Ghost Town” with Kid Cudi and 070 Shake, West and the SNL cast members gathered back on stage to close out the episode. The show had gone off air, however, West continued talking to the audience. Comedian Chris Rock, who was in attendance, posted an Instagram Story after the show with video snippets of West’s speech. During this time, the SNL stood behind West awkwardly. ‘Night School’ Tops The Weekend Box Office With $26M Debut

Tiffany Haddish and Kevin Hart’s comedy Night School made it’s way to the top of the box-office chart, earning $9.5 million from 3,010 theaters for a projected weekend debut of $26 million. The winning trio behind the 2017 box-office hit Girls Trip, director Malcolm D. Lee, producer Will Packer and Universal, were all involved in the making of Night School. Heading into the weekend, some tracking services had suggested Night School could clear $31 million in its domestic launch. The movie follows a group of misfits who are forced to attend night school in order to pass their GED exams, with Haddish as their teacher. Rob Riggle, Taran Killam, Romany Malco and Keith David are all part of the cast.  Warner Bros.’ new animated flick Smallfoot opened to No. 2 on Friday with $6.5 million for a weekend debut in the $23 million-$24 million range from 4,131 theaters. Arnold Schwarzenegger posted a photo of him and Linda Hamilton in honor of her birthday, straight from the set of the upcoming sixth “Terminator” film on Wednesday.  He posted the photo alongside an image of a photo of the two actors from years ago. “I’m pumped to be back together again,” Schwarzenegger, 71, wrote. Former “Melrose Place” and “Desperate Housewives” actress Marcia Cross revealed recently she is recovering from a fight with anal cancer. In a series of Instagram posts, the 56-year-old mother of twin daughters said she was “happy to be alive but sad that my hair fell out.” Cross characterized her status as “post-cancer” saying”all good now,” she wrote. “Hard journey but I am HEALTHY, and more present and grateful than ever.” The actress, whose husband, Tom Mahoney, is a cancer survivor, said that her disclosure about her disease and hair loss made her feel “liberated, deliriously free, and completely me.” Cross played Bree in the long-running “Desperate Housewives” (2004-2012) and she later had a role as a character who became president on the FBI drama “Quantico.”... Actor Geoffrey Owens Donates The $25,000 Given To Him From Nicki Minaj To Charity

Actor Geoffrey Owens, the former “The Cosby Show” star who was job-shamed last month due to pictures of him posted on social media working as a cashier at Trader Joe’s, is now paying it forward. Owens has decided to donate the $25,000 that rapper Nicki Minaj gave him to other struggling actors.  Owens said: “I would like to give this donation of 25K to the Actor’s Fund in memory of the late, great Earle Hyman.” Hyman, who played Cosby’s father, ‘Russell’, on The Cosby Show, lived his last years and died at the Actors’ Home, which was funded and run by the Actor’s Fund. Owens added: “I am extremely grateful to Nicki Minaj for enabling struggling actors to continue pursuing their dreams.” Owens played Elvin Tibideaux on “The Cosby Show,” but his career stalled after the show ended in 1992. The photos of him being shamed for working at the supermarket stirred outrage. Minaj called the incident “toxic & disgusting” and pledged to donate $25,000 to Owens. Minaj said she was “happy to be a part of a great cause. Bill Cosby’s Star On Hollywood Walk Of Fame To Remain, Despite Sexual Assault Conviction

Actor Bill Cosby’s star on the Hollywood Walk Of Fame will not be removed despite him being jailed for sexual assault, the organization in charge of the LA tourist attraction has confirmed. The Hollywood Chamber of Commerce said that while it is “regrettable” when celebrities’ personal lives do not live up to “public standards and expectations”, the stars mark professional achievements and are permanent fixtures. Cosby was just sentenced for up to 10 years for sexual assault, while also being labelled a “sexually violent predator” by a judge in Pennsylvania. Bill Cosby Sentenced To 3 To 10 Years In Prison For Sexual Assault

Comedian Bill Cosby was taken out of court in handcuffs Tuesday after a Philadelphia judge sentenced him to 3-10 years in prison for sexually assaulting a woman in 2004. “The day has come. Your time has come,” Montgomery County Common Pleas Judge Steven O’Neill told Cosby, 81, before sentencing him on three felony counts of aggravated indecent assault. Cosby declined to speak during the two-day hearing. He was found guilty in April of drugging and sexually assaulting Andrea Constand, a former women’s basketball coach at Temple University in Philadelphia. The judge initially denied a defense request to allow Cosby to remain free on bail, but lawyers continued to argue, and the entertainer wasn’t immediately hauled out of court to begin his sentence. Cosby remained seated in the courtroom, surrounded by attorneys and spokespeople. Spectators were cleared from the courtroom before deputies took him into custody and walked him away in handcuffs as he held his cane. The judge also ordered Cosby to pay Constand’s costs and a fine of $25,000. Earlier Tuesday, Judge O’Neill declared Cosby a sexually violent predator, which state law defines as a person with “a mental abnormality or personality disorder that makes the person likely to engage in predatory sexually violent offenses.” The designation means Cosby will have to register as a sex offender for the rest of his life.... Mel Gibson To Write & Direct “The Wild Bunch” Remake

Mel Gibson has been hired to co-write and direct a remake of The Wild Bunch. The original 1969 Western movie, directed by Sam Peckinpah and starring William Holden, followed an aging outlaw band caught up in changing times and a last job gone terribly wrong. Though the film met with some controversy upon release, it’s become a classic of American film. Director Tony Scott was originally attached to a remake, but his untimely death in 2012 put the project on hold indefinitely. Now the remake has been revived with Gibson at the helm. Gibson has had his share of ups and downs over the last decade, but his career has been on the rise after his most recent directorial effort, 2016’s Hacksaw Ridge, earned nominations for Best Director, Best Picture, and a number of other awards. ... “America’s Got Talent” Finalist Michael Ketterer Will Not Perform With Garth Brooks Following His Arrest

“America’s Got Talent” finalist Michael Ketterer will no long perform at the Garth Brooks concert at Notre Dame Stadium after he was arrested on a domestic violence charge last week. The 41-year-old Ketterer, a father of six, came in fifth place on the most recent season of AGT. On Wednesday’s finale, Ketterer — a pediatric mental health nurse from Knoxville, Tennessee — performed the song that Brooks wrote for him, and Brooks also invited the singer to perform the song in front of 86,000 people at his upcoming show. However following the arrest, both men decided together that it’s best for him to not perform. “Called him this weekend, we talked.
