Margot Kidder, ‘Superman’ Actress, Dead At 69

Margot Kidder, who found fame as Lois Lane in the 1978 film “Superman,” died Sunday at her home in Montana. She was 69 years old. According to her manager, the actress died peacefully in her sleep. Kidder starred opposite Christopher Reeve’s Superman in the original film as well as the three sequels. Born in the Northwest Territories of Canada, she made her professional acting debut on the TV series “Wojeck” in 1969. After moving to Los Angeles she took roles on TV shows including “McQueen” and “Mod Squad.” Kidder also starred in “The Amityville Horror” in 1979 and worked steadily in television and on stage. Kidder was married three times, and after facing thousands of dollars in medical bills, she found herself homeless in 1996 as she struggled with bipolar disorder. Avengers: Infinity War Becomes Fifth Biggest International Release Of All Time

Avengers: Infinity War opened in China this weekend, and with that release the film currently stands as the fifth biggest international release of all time. Disney said Sunday that the Marvel superhero film is estimated to now be up to $1.6 billion in sales following a $200 million opening weekend in China. In the US, the film has earned another $61.8 million in its third weekend in theaters. Infinity War has passed 2012’s The Avengers, Furious 7, and Avengers: Age of Ultron. The movie brings together the stars of nearly every Marvel movie released over the past 10 years, including Robert Downey Jr.’s Iron Man, Chris Evans’ Captain America, Chris Pratt’s Star-Lord, Scarlett Johansson’s Black Widow and many others against mad titan Thanos. ‘Brooklyn Nine-Nine’ Saved By NBC

One day after the show was canceled by Fox, NBC has rescued the popular sitcom “Brooklyn Nine-Nine.” The series received a 13-episode sixth season order from NBC. “Ever since we sold this show to Fox I’ve regretted letting it get away, and it’s high time it came back to its rightful home,” said Robert Greenblatt, chairman of NBC Entertainment. He added: “We’re all thrilled that one of the smartest, funniest, and best cast comedies in a long time will take its place in our comedy line-up.” “Brooklyn Nine-Nine” was canceled along with two other comedies — “The Mick” and ‘”The Last Man on Earth” — as Fox made room on its schedule for a crop of new shows. Harvey Weinstein’s Estranged Wife Georgina Chapman Breaks Her Silence

Fashion designer Georgina Chapman has spoken publicly for the first time about the scandal surrounding her ex-husband Harvey Weinstein. Chapman spoke in the June issue of American Vogue about how she never suspected Weinstein of the multiple sexual assaults of which he has been accused.  “Absolutely not. Never,” she replied, when asked if she had suspicions, adding that she has “never been one of those people who obsesses about where someone is.” She said: “I had what I thought was a very happy marriage. I loved my life.” Chapman shares two children with Weinstein: India, 7, and Dashiell, 5.  She disclosed that she has seen a therapist to help her work her way through the situation. “There was a part of me that was terribly naive – clearly, so naive. Bad Boys III” is coming soon to a theater near you. Will Smith and Martin Lawrence are slated to return as Miami detectives Mike Lowrey and Marcus Burnett in “Bad Boys for Life,” which was given a tentative release date of January 17, 2020. This marks the latest chapter in the saga to bring a third “Bad Boys” film to the big screen, fifteen years after the release of “Bad Boys II.”  “Bad Boys III” was announced back in 2015, with action filmmaker Joe Carnahan attached to direct and a release the flick for February 2017. Annette Bening Joining “Captain Marvel”

Annette Bening is joining the Marvel Cinematic Universe. The four-time Oscar nominee has signed on for a role in Captain Marvel. Anna Boden and Ryan Fleck are directing the film, which is set in the 1990s and will see the return of Marvel characters like Nick Fury (Samuel L. Jackson), Phil Coulson (Clark Gregg), and Ronan the Accuser (Lee Pace). Brie Larson is headlining the film as the titular hero, a.k.a. Carol Danvers, an Air Force pilot who gains superpowers after being exposed to alien DNA.  Captain Marvel marks Bening’s first superhero movie. Taylor Swift Kicks Off Her ‘Reputation’ Tour

Taylor Swift kicked off her Reputation stadium tour on Tuesday, May 8 — and the setlist includes 24 of her biggest hits. Swift performed 14 songs from her acclaimed 2017 album, Reputation, in addition to her previous singles and fan favorites. Camila Cabello and Charli XCX opened for Swift as they played for a sold-out crowd of 59,157 fans at the University of Phoenix Stadium in Glendale, Arizona. Swift’s set ran for more than two hours and found her performing on three separate stages. The main platform featured a 172-foot tall video screen that curved and continued into the floor. “Sherlock Holmes 3” Release Date Announced With Robert Downey Jr And Jude Law Returning

The Sherlock Holmes franchise is back as Warner Bros. announced that Sherlock Holmes 3 will be released on Christmas Day; December 25, 2020. Robert Downey Jr. will return as Holmes, alongside Jude Law, who stars as Sherlock’s famous sidekick, Dr. Watson. Guy Ritchie directed the first two films in the Warners franchise, but no director is currently attached for Part 3. The script comes from Chris Brancato, writer for critically acclaimed series Narcos and Hannibal. Sherlock will have some pretty stiff competition at the Christmas box office in 2020. Amazon Show ‘Transparent’ To End With Fifth And Final Season

Transparent is moving forward without star Jeffrey Tambor, but this will be it’s last season.  Amazon’s original series will conclude with the upcoming fifth and final season, according to creator Jill Soloway. A few months after sexual assault allegations against Tambor and his subsequent dismissal from the series, Soloway admitted to finally feeling “a tiny bit like we are going to be okay.”  Transparent premiered in 2014 and won the Golden Globe for Best Television Series – Comedy or Musical in 2015, while Tambor won a Golden Globe and two Emmys for his portrayal of transgender matriarch Maura Pfefferman. Avengers: Infinity War Dominates Box Office Again With $112.5M In It’s Second Weekend

After delivering the biggest box office opening in history last week, Disney and Marvel’s superhero blockbuster Avengers: Infinity War is on track to earn an estimated $112.5 million from 4,474 theaters in the U.S. and Canada this weekend, crushing its competitors while scoring the second-best second weekend ever. Only Star Wars: The Force Awakens has grossed more, and Infinity War will bump Black Panther down to third on the list. First Official Pictures Of Prince Louis With Sister Princess Charlotte Are Released

The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge released two new photos of their new son, Prince Louis, on Sunday. The first official photos were taken by Princess Kate at the home of her and Prince William in Kensington Palace. Prince Louis Arthur Charles first official snapshot was taken on April 26, just three days after he was born. The second photo, taken on Princess Charlotte’s third birthday on May 2, shows the older sister planting a gentle kiss on her baby brother’s forehead.  “The Duke and Duchess would like to thank members of the public for their kind messages following the birth of Prince Louis, and for Princess Charlotte’s third birthday,” Kensington Palace tweeted on Sunday.  In the photo, Princess Charlotte is pictured in a blue and white cardigan worn by Prince George in a family portrait for the Queen’s 90th birthday in April 2016, and Prince Louis’ white outfit was also previously worn by his sister in a portrait taken after she was born. Former ‘Law & Order’ Actress Diane Neal To Run For Congress In New York

Former Law & Order actress Diane Neal is seeking a new role– as representative of a congressional district in upstate New York. Neal, 42, appeared on the original L&O, once the longest-running crime drama on American primetime. From 2001-2012, she played Assistant District Attorney Casey Novak on Law & Order: SVU, now in its 19th season. More recently, in 2015, Neal appeared on NCIS: New Orleans, The Following and Blue Bloods. Neal launched her campaign for the 19th Congressional District, where she has lived for four years. “Transformers 5” Star Isabela Moner To Play ‘Dora The Explorer’ In Live-Action Movie

Isabela Moner will take on the title role in the live-action feature film “Dora the Explorer,” Paramount Players announced earlier this week. The film will be based on the animated series of the same name. It will follow a teenage version of Dora, as she goes on an adventure with her best friend, a monkey named Boots, and her cousin Diego. Moner recently starred in “Transformers: The Last Knight” with Mark Wahlberg and Anthony Hopkins. She also previously voiced the character Kate in the 2014 animated spinoff “Dora and Friends: Into the City!” and was the lead in Nickelodeon comedy series “100 Things to Do Before High School.” The original animdated “Dora the Explorer” series premiered on Nickelodeon in 2000, featuring Dora as a 7-year-old Latina who travels the world. The Handmaid’s Tale has been renewed for a third season. Hulu announced the news on Wednesday, following the drama series’ record-breaking season two premiere last week, which doubled in viewership. Netflix will debut a re-cut edition of Arrested Development season 4 that at last puts the fragmented story in chronological order. Arrested Development creator Mitchell Hurwitz heard the complaints of fans about season 4 and promised a re-cut version that would put the episodes in chronological order. Mariah Carey Announces New Las Vegas Residency ‘The Butterfly Returns’

Mariah Carey announced on Monday that she would return to The Colosseum at Caesars Palace for a new residency, “The Butterfly Returns,” beginning in July and extending through September. The Colosseum was home to Carey’s previous Vegas show, “Mariah #1 to Infinity,” which lasted from 2015-2017. The announcement comes on the heels of Carey sharing her struggle with bipolar disorder. Lin-Manuel Miranda’s latest #Hamildrop picks up the pace with “First Burn,” which Manuel confirmed in a tweet is “a first draft” of the Hamilton track “Burn,” is packed with features from Arianna Afsar, Julia Harriman, Lexi Lawson, Rachelle Ann Go and Shoba Narayan. Nickelodeon Reveals “Double Dare” Will Return This Summer

Nickelodeon announced that the classic 1980s and ’90s game show Double Dare is set to return to the network this summer with 40 new episodes. Originally running from 1986 to 1993, Double Dare pits two teams of kids against each other in trivia, physical challenges, and the series’ unforgettable obstacle course. It also made use of the network’s signature green slime. Those components and some past contestants will return, though original host Marc Summers will not be back.  It is expected that a new emcee is expected to be named soon. In 1988, the original Double Dare moved to Fox for a season before returning to Nickelodeon. Avengers: Infinity War has made box-office history with a $250 million opening weekend. It’s the biggest opening of all time, smashing the record previously held by Star Wars: The Force Awakens, which opened in 2015 with almost $248 million. Avengers: Infinity Force, the third Avengers movie in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, earned another $380 million internationally, for a total of $630 million worldwide.  A Quiet Place was a distant second with $10.6 million in its fourth weekend, Amy Schumer’s I Feel Pretty came in at #3, Rampage was 4th, and Marvel’s Black Panther came in at No. 5, for $688 million total.... Avicii’s Family Releases A Statement Saying “He Could Not Go On Any Longer”

The family of electronic dance musician Avicii has released a second statement about their late son this week, saying the famed DJ “could not go on any longer” and that “he wanted to find peace.” Avicii, born Tim Bergling, was found dead last week in Muscat, Oman at age 28. Details about his death were not revealed. “Our beloved Tim was a seeker, a fragile artistic soul searching for answers to existential questions. An over-achieving perfectionist who travelled and worked hard at a pace that led to extreme stress,” read the statement, released Thursday. Avicii had in the past suffered acute pancreatitis, in part due to excessive drinking. After having his gallbladder and appendix removed in 2014, he canceled a series of shows in attempt to recover. The Swedish performer retired from performing in 2016 but still produced albums and songs.  Some of his hits included Wake Me Up and Le7els. Bill Cosby Found Guilty In Sexual Assault Retrial, Lashes Out In Court After Verdict

A Montgomery County jury of seven men and five women returned guilty verdicts regarding the January 2004 sexual assault of Andrea Constand. The jurors spent nearly 15 hours over two days deciding the verdict after being charged Monday morning. Victims of Cosby sitting in the courtroom shrieked and cried in delight after the first verdict was announced. Cosby stared straight ahead as the verdict was read, but moments later lashed out loudly at District Attorney Kevin Steele and called him an “a–hole” after the prosecutor asked that Cosby be immediately jailed because he might flee. Cosby denied he has an airplane and shouted, “I’m sick of him!” The judge decided Cosby can remain free on bail while he awaits sentencing. No sentencing date was set, but state law requires it within 100 days of a conviction. Cosby, 80, could face up to 30 years in prison — 10 years for each count. Billboard magazine reports in the week following her April 14 performance at Coachella, sales and streams of the album and song catalog of both Beyoncé and Destiny’s Child jumped 83 percent.Three of Beyoncé’s albums have re-entered the Billboard 200 Album chart: “Lemonade,” at number 91, her self-titled album at number 138 and “I Am…Sasha Fierce” at 160. K-Pop Superstars BTS Confirm 2018 Billboard Music Awards Performance

The 2018 Billboard Music Awards will feature a special performance from South Korean boy band BTS. Billboard announced in a news release Tuesday that the K-pop group will perform a new single at the awards show May 20 in Las Vegas. The event will mark BTS’ first performance at the Billboard Music Awards. Prince’s Family Files Wrongful Death Lawsuit Against Hospital And Pharmacy Chain

The family of the late Prince are suing Trinity Medical Center in Illinois, the hospital that treated the singer for an opioid overdose in April 2016 before his fatal overdose a week later.  They are also suing the pharmacy chain Walgreens. According to court papers, Prince’s family claims that the singer received improper medical care after his private plane made an emergency landing in Moline, Illinois, on April 15, 2016. The suit claims that the hospital “failed to timely and appropriately diagnose and treat opiate overdose; failed to provide timely and appropriate counseling for opiate overdose; and failed to timely and appropriately investigate the cause of opiate overdose,” which was a “direct and proximate cause” of Prince’s death on April 21, 2016.  The family also claims in the suit that Walgreens stores in Minnesota dispensed prescription medication to Prince “not valid for a legitimate medical purpose” and also “failed to conduct appropriate drug utilization review.” Prince was found dead in an elevator at his Paisley Park estate in Chanhassen, Minnesota. Prince William and Princess Kate debuted the newest member of Britain’s royal family, as they gave the world a first look at their newborn son outside the London hospital where Kate gave birth on Monday.  Kate, 36, wearing a red dress, held her third child as she exited St. Mary’s Hospital alongside William. Kate delivered the baby, weighing 8 pounds, 7 ounces, at 11:01 a.m. according to Kensington Palace.  William, 35, was present for the baby’s birth at St. Mary’s Hospital; he departed the hospital a few hours after the baby’s birth was announced, and later returned with his two other children: Prince George, 4, and Princess Charlotte, who turns 3 on May 2. ...
