Schumer, who appeared in a Bud Light Super Bowl ad two years ago, also called on white NFL players to kneel during the national anthem in support. Meanwhile, a Super Bowl musical act for the halftime show hasn’t officially been named, but it has been reported that Maroon 5 will headline this year’s performance. Multiple reports earlier this week revealed that Rihanna turned down an invitation to perform at the halftime show because she also supported Kaepernick. Ratings For “The Conners” Debut Fall Short Of “Roseanne” Premiere Episode

tmp5ae6cf28-b72c-4893-85df-0daf7645250f-jpg

ABC’s The Conners didn’t come close to the blockbuster premiere rating of its predecessor, the reboot of Roseanne, but the new series did have strong numbers that led Tuesday night in the ratings. The debut airing delivered 10.5 million viewers and a 2.3 rating among adults 18-49. While that is down 55% from the premiere of Roseanne last spring, it managed to edge out NBC’s This Is Us for the night. ABC did not expect Roseanne premiere-level numbers, and it was predicted that audience interest in the spin-off was about half that of viewer interest in Roseanne before its return. The debut episode, titled “Keep on Trucking,” confirmed previous reports that Roseanne Conner died of an opioid overdose. Roseanne Barr said in a statement that the “opioid overdose lent an unnecessary grim and morbid dimension to an otherwise happy family show.”... [Read Full Story]

On Thursday, a New York judge dismissed part of the criminal sexual assault case against Harvey Weinstein after prosecutors said they could not oppose the dismissal in light of information they had learned while investigating the case. According to the associated press, the dismissed charge relates to Weinstein accuser Lucia Evans. Evans previously had told the New Yorker that Weinstein had forced her to perform oral sex on him in 2004. Five other charges, involving alleged assaults of two other women, remain. Weinstein has pleaded not guilty to all the charges. Weinstein’s lawyer, Benjamin Brafman, said he would seek dismissal of the remaining charges as well.  Following the hearing, the office of Manhattan District Attorney Cyrus Vance made public a letter it had sent to Brafman last month disclosing that an unnamed witness had told them that she had heard an account of the alleged assault from Evans, and it was different from the one Evans originally gave to DA’s office.... According to previous reports, Depp and Heard ended their marriage in early 2017 after she accused him of attacking her and throwing an iPhone in her face, which he denies. At the time, she phoned the police, who arrived and found no evidence of a crime. Depp  agreed to pay her $7 million to finally end the marriage, but still maintains her allegations are completely false. Speaking in an interview with GQ magazine for its November edition, Depp opened up about the backlash he’s received and being labeled an abuser of women. Depp said: “I could feel people look at me differently, because of the accusations towards you. And then people start putting things in magazines: ‘He’s insane. He needs to take a sanity test…’ You know, ludicrous stuff. But the only thing that I could do was know what I still know. Ultimately, the truth will come out in all of this and I will be standing on the right side of the roaring rapids. I hope other people will be too.” Depp confirmed that police found no evidence of wrongdoing on his part when they were called on the day in question, and alleged that Heard refused to let an EMT check her. “We probably shouldn’t be talking about this,” Depp said during his interview, “I am worried. I worry about the people that bought it and I worry about her. It’s just not right. I will never stop fighting. I’ll never stop. They’d have to f—ing shoot me.
