She said, “I want to take a moment to thank the people who were my professors, my teachers, of the craft of songwriting. First of all, anyone who wrote with me in Nashville when I was in like eighth or ninth grade, that is insane that you did that. I am so lucky that I got to learn from some of the best writers on Music Row.”She went on to spread the love to all the Swifties out there, because they “care about my lyrics. You have no idea how much that means to me, that you dissect them and copy them into your journals and care about the things that I write.” (Billboard)

Liam Payne may have looked like he was having a great time when One Direction was on top of the world, but in reality, he was so depressed that he pondered killing himself.Appearing on the Diary of a CEO podcast, Liam said, “I was worried how far my rock bottom was going to be. Where’s rock bottom for me? And you would never have seen it. I’m very good at hiding it.”Asked if he dipped far enough to consider suicide, he replied, “Yeah. There is some stuff that I have definitely never, never spoken about. It was really, really, really severe. It was a problem. I just didn’t like myself very much and then I made a change.”That change? Way back in the early days of the COVID pandemic, wait staff and delivery people were considered “essential workers” and given a little more respect – and a little boost in tips. Well, times have changed. According to a new study, customers have pulled back on heavy tipping and gone back to their old habits – with some even cutting back on the gratuities completely. The New York Times scanned figures from payment services Square and Toast and found that folks upped their average tip to nearly 25% in early-to-mid 2020, but have gradually fallen back to pre-pandemic numbers of 18 to 19%. In bigger cities, some restaurants are battling back by eliminating tips altogether and raising wages — which means a hike in the price of some menu items. (Eater)
It looks like the future of communication is in your clothes. Researchers at Purdue University have figured out a way to add wireless capabilities to clothing – and it won’t get wrecked when you do the laundry. Your clothing will then be able to communicate with your phone, computer, car, etc. The smart clothing can also monitor your health and even call for help if you’ve had an accident. (EurekAlert)
Speaking of clothes … Guys, if you’re looking for a successful summer of dating, you may want to eliminate these things from your wardrobe. Lewis Capaldi hasn’t been shy about letting fans look inside his life, but he’s about to take his deepest dive yet — with a documentary film that’s been in the works for five years. In typically Capaldi-ish fashion, Lewis talks about the flick, saying, “I’m very excited to potentially capture the making of the best album of all time, or more likely, to permanently document the scorching of my dreams as years of my life’s work is received like a pile of flaming [poop]. Either way it’s going to be lots of fun and will be lovely to have people along for the ride.”The still-untitled film will get its premiere at Cannes Virtual Film Market from June 21st through 25th. Adam Levine tells the BBC that Maroon 5 has a high criteria about what songs to include on their albums. “Quality control is the number one criteria to us: If a song doesn’t feel special, we wouldn’t include it. And we don’t mean that in a cheap way. We mean that like, “Could this song connect with the world?” Then, after we decide that, we say, “but is this the kind of hit song we want to have on our record?”Just one year ago, a black Labrador retriever named Forrest was in a shelter in Oregon, looking for a forever home. But thanks to the charity group Search Dog Foundation, Forrest is now a trained search and rescue dog.Back in August, Forrest started training to become a certified search and rescue dog. Because not every dog makes it through the training, the Search Dog Foundation has a backup plan. Every dog that enters the program gets care for life regardless of whether they graduate from the search dog program or not.Forrest did graduate — and is now returning the favor by working with his first-responder partner, Tom Simons, and traveling around the country to save those affected by disasters.Forrest is described as a “gentle giant” who’s “light on his feet.” His trainers went further to explain that he’s confident and thriving in all the situations the trainers have put him in. Thanks to his hard work — and the attention of his trainers — Forrest will now be helping those in big trouble and saving lives. Folks wearing a green band are letting you know that “hugs are welcome.”

Cicadas aren’t just keeping you awake all night, one is now being blamed for a car accident. NATIONAL JELLY-FILLED DONUT DAY – As of last count, Americans eat about 10 billion donuts annually. Jelly-filled donuts aren’t really ‘donuts’ since they don’t have a hole in the middle. They predate the invention of the donut by a few hundred years. The first known recipe was published in a German cookbook in 1532. Back then, sugar was expensive, so they stuffed them with meat or mushrooms instead (not great with coffee).
