What’s your biggest worry on a first date? According to a new survey, people are most concerned about awkward conversations. 39% said that was their biggest worry on a first date – more than lack of chemistry (25%) and rejection (15%). (Health Digest)

Got old socks you don’t wear anymore? Don’t throw them away. Apparently while 80% of people donate their old clothes, 91% simply throw away their socks. Well, Colorado-based company Smartwool wants your old socks to turn into dog beds. You can drop off your unwanted socks in collection bins at select retailers in 42 different states till May 2nd. You can also mail your socks directly to Smartwool, but you’ll need to order something and then they’ll send you a bag to mail them in. (Martha Stewart).

Is looking in the mirror your friend or your foe? While some people enjoy looking at themselves in the mirror, we would wager that the majority don’t. If you’re one of those that don’t, maybe you should start. According to a new study from Japan, seeing your face in the mirror or even in a selfie, triggers feelings of pleasure in your brain.

Has COVID made you crowd averse? Seems one of the effects of the pandemic is that people can’t deal with crowds anymore. A new survey found that more than 65% of respondents said because of the pandemic they can no longer stand being around crowds of people and will do everything to avoid crowded spaces and standing in line, especially at the airport.

Speaking of post-COVID stress … While we’re all anxious for the pandemic to be over, lots of people are also dealing with the anxiety of getting back to real life. There’s even a name for it – “re-entry anxiety.” Whether it’s stressing about going back to an office instead of working from the comfort of your home, or having to commute again, or just having to deal with attending social events and gatherings again, “re-entry” anxiety is very real. Britney Spears and boyfriend Sam Asghari attended a wedding on Saturday. Not their own, though.

Nick Carter offered a second update on the health of his newborn baby on Thursday night, saying the child is “not out of the woods yet.”
Lauren Kitt Carter gave birth to the couple’s third child earlier this week, and Nick shared the happy news alongside word that there were “minor complications.” In a second update, the Backstreet Boy tweeted “So everything is looking better but we’re not out of the woods yet. We have to stay in the hospital one more night. Daddy and Mommy are watching baby like a Hawk. Thank you again for all your love and support. We see you,” followed by a prayer emoji.
The couple hasn’t revealed the baby’s name or gender as of yet.

Bryan Adams tells SongwriterUniverse.com that he has some advice for artists that are just starting out in the business. “Don’t sign anything over to any dodgy managers or production companies, because unless they manage the Rolling Stones you’ll get ripped off for sure. If they are good people, they won’t ask for your publishing. That’s actually a great judge of if they are creeps or not. Remember the most important thing about any song deals: they need you a lot more than you need them.”

In Johannesburg, South Africa, a black Labrador named Jessie heroically rescued his friend — a Pomeranian named Chucky — from drowning in the family pool.
Security cameras were rolling and captured footage of Chucky slipping and falling in the in-ground pool. Chucky was in big trouble because there was no way for him to pull himself out of the water.
He was able to keep his head above water while Jessie looked for ways to rescue him. The video shows that Jessie wasn’t too thrilled about being close to the water herself.
But, she kept trying and trying until she was able to reach down and pull Chucky up from the pool with her teeth.
The owners, who were not home at the time, were confused why Jessie and Chucky were wet. And when they looked at the security video, it all made sense and they were relieved that Jessie was able to step up and make the rescue.
The owners also admitted it was a lesson learned, and now plan to cover the pool to make sure such a mishap doesn’t happen again. (Borneo Bulletin)

Life is slowly starting to get back to normal … but people still want to keep working from home. A brand-new survey has found that attitudes about remote work haven’t changed – even after more and more people are getting vaccinated. 65% of those surveyed said they wanted to keep working from home, even after COVID ends. 11% said they want a flexible arrangement with some days working remotely and some days at the office. Only 2% said they were looking forward to going back into an office full-time.
Why do people want to keep working from home? 49% said they still had fears about COVID-19, 46% worry that they will lose their flexibility, and 43% think it will negatively affect their work-life balance.
Another big reason people want to keep working from home is that it is saving them money. 38% say working from home is saving them more than $5,000 a year and 20% said they are saving as much as $10,000 a year. The savings are coming from things like not eating out, not buying as much gas, and not needing dry cleaning.

You’ve probably heard of Seasonal Affective Disorder. It’s when people get depressed in the winter months due to lack of sunshine. Apparently about 10% of those affected by SAD experience it during the summer months. (Health Digest)

Each year, the students at Littlefield High School in Texas raise money for the Make-A-Wish Foundation. And this year, they were going to donate the money to a student at the school.
But instead of choosing to take a trip for himself, this student — who wishes to remain anonymous — chose to pay the “wish” forward and donate it to the hospital to brighten the days of other teenagers.
Because of the generosity of this student, a $9,000 check was presented to the Covenant Health Foundation — which will purchase crafts and special food to make things a bit easier for teens who are hospitalized.
Kathryn Pylant, a hospital official who has worked with the student, said that the donation is incredible, but not unexpected, because he’s “very selfless, and he always thinks of others” — which is exactly what he did here by passing up the chance to go to Disneyland. (KCBD-TV)

From 1982 to 1996, Jessie Hamilton worked as a chef at the Phi Gamma Delta fraternity house at Louisiana State University. During that time, she didn’t just feed up to 100 young men, five days a week. She also would listen to the fraternity brothers and help them work through their problems.
Well, those men didn’t forget about Jessie and the impact she had on their lives. They pitched in and paid off her mortgage.
On the day of her 74th birthday, friends and family — along with some of the fraternity brothers — gathered to surprise her at her home. They presented her with a $45,000 check to pay off the mortgage and another check for almost $7000 for herself.
The fraternity brother who led the campaign, Andrew Fusaiotti, explained that she was “truly like a mother” to the guys.
Jessie agreed, saying, “They were my kids. They still are.”
And all these years later, the men she took care of were able to step up and take care of her. (Patriot-News)

Sharon, who was reportedly given a $10 million payout, added, “I’m going to be just fine. I’m fine. I’m a fighter. I’m fine.”
But she did question Prince Harry‘s own feelings about race and privilege. “You know when they say with white privilege? Right there with Harry. He’s the poster boy.
