Charity Group Donates Special Soap to Firefighters

When firefighters are dealing with emergencies and blazes, they aren’t just in harm’s way because of the fires, they’re also often exposed to dangerous, toxic chemicals and contaminants. A company in Wichita, Kansas, invented a special soap — called Firemen’s Friend — that goes a long way toward scrubbing off the chemicals to keep the firemen safe and healthy.

A charity group in Wichita called Beyond the Call partnered with a local bank and Firemen’s Friend to donate 6000 bars of the soap to the Wichita Fire Department.

While the donation gave the fire department a big boost, it was just one of many things Beyond the Call does for these front-line heroes. The charity also funds mental health programs and peer support groups to help firefighters process the heavy stress of the job.

One of the organization’s founders, Konner Knoll, said the partnerships are vital for keeping things going and allowing Beyond the Call to help. “We appreciate any and all support,” said Konner. “Of course, support of this nature and that big of a number we really appreciate and lets us do a lot of great things for the guys.”
