Football Star Donates $15,000 to Elementary School

New England Patriots quarterback Drake Maye — one of the rising stars in the NFL — and his wife Ann Michael just made a huge impact off the field by donating $15,000 to Alfred Lima Elementary School in Providence, Rhode Island.

Surprising the staff through his Mayeday Foundation, the funds were handed straight to teachers in the form of gift cards so they could skip paying out of pocket for classroom supplies.

Some of the educators at Alfred Lima already have big plans for the cash. Dual-language teachers are stocking up on new bilingual books, a reading specialist is clearing out her Amazon cart filled with hands-on learning games, and the school’s student-run “Lima News Crew” is looking to upgrade their broadcast studio with new microphones and green screen gear to make their morning announcements pop.
