Kitten Rescued from Sewer Gets Special Forever Home

A tiny kitten in Hazlet, New Jersey, is safe and sound today after a wild rescue mission inside a local sewer pipe. Police rushed to the scene after a worried neighbor reported hearing some very sad, distressed meowing coming straight out of a street drain.

An officer nicknamed “Birdie” bravely climbed down into the sewer grate, while animal control officers used smelly cat food to lure the frightened kitten out of a hiding spot.

After a little bit of patience, Officer Birdie scooped up the kitten and brought it back up to safety. Even better? The grandson of the awesome neighbor who first called the police is already stepping up to officially adopt the kitten and welcome it into his home.
