Late Summer Glasses on Old Mission

An easy August look at what’s showing up in glasses around Old Mission Peninsula as the light starts to soften.

The light comes in long over the vineyard rows this time of year, and by early evening it turns the gravel pale gold. A screen door taps shut somewhere behind the tasting room, a stack of stemware catches the last sun, and someone sets a corkscrew down beside a sweating water glass. August on Old Mission still gives you warm shoulders and open windows, but the edge of the day arrives a little earlier now.

Once the scene settles, the wines start to make sense in it. By the end of August 2026, that is what feels like it is pouring on The Coast: bright whites, a cool rosé, and the steady habit of lingering outside until the light finally gives out. Not in a rush, not trying too hard. Just Old Mission Peninsula doing what it does at summer’s edge.
