South Haven’s Kids’ Corner Playground will be demolished starting next week. Comptons Incorporated has been hired by the city for the work, and the playground will be rebuilt to meet current safety and accessibility standards. The wooded structure is over 30 years old and has become outdated. A Michigan Department of Natural Resources Land and Water Conservation grant will pay for the demolition, and the city is taking bids for the parts of the park that the planned money does not cover. The city is working with Playgrounds by Leathers to preserve the magic and wonder of the original playground. Hundreds of community members helped with the design process, including 70 elementary school children, and Sea Monsters has been chosen as the theme.
