The South Haven city council has decided to not proceed with proposed amendment changes to measure heights of homes to 35-feet instead of two stories and 35-feet. Councilman Joe Reeser outlined his opposition to the change last night.

“We need affordability. The larger we build a home, put another floor and make it a three floor, the house goes up (in price) even higher,” said Reeser. “That’s not even getting into how it looks.”

Only one councilmember wanted to proceed. All public comment was against the change, with people saying it would result in more short term rentals being built three stories tall and not affordable homes.
