Mark Hamlin

One of the first things a listener told me when I first met them was, you don’t look anything like you sound. It’s one of the things that’s never changed throughout my career.  So, I thought I’d get that out of the way right off, I know I don’t.

Another question I get a lot is: why do radio personalities change their names? Radio is a crazy business. I’ve met and worked with people from all over and it’s usually because their birth name was something like Horas Gloogenhiemer. It’s silly really! In my case there was someone on the air at my first station that had my first name (not his real name either) but they couldn’t have two people with the same name. I chose my little brothers name, Mark. He got a kick out of hearing that on the radio.

I’m originally from Portland, Michigan and my wife is from Jenison. Our son Travis was born in Memphis and our daughter Michensey was born in Philadelphia.  We have lived in 12 different places and owned 7 different houses.  Michigan has always been “home” and we always came home for holidays, summer vacations and many other family occasions. Ludington has always been our hang out in the summer. Hamlin lake seemed like a natural place for us to be.

We always planned on ending up back in Michigan. We are so happy to be back home and absolutely love being part of the Midwest Family group of radio stations!  I look forward to meeting you and hearing your story!  God bless!
