Happy Headline: Middle School Wrestler Gives Trophy to Kid in Wheelchair

Eighth grader athlete Isaac Diaz from Oconto Falls, Wisconsin, is an exceptional wrestler. Last year he took second in the state tournament – and has his sights set on taking first this year.

But during a recent tournament, he got some extra attention for a selfless gesture he made away from the wrestling mat.

In the crowd he saw a boy named Brock Cherek, who is in a wheelchair and has limited communication skills. Isaac approached Brock’s mother, Lisa, and told her he wanted to give Brock the trophy after his next victory.

Sure enough, Isaac won his match and followed through on his promise, giving Brock both the trophy as well as his headband.

Isaac said he was just inspired to “make this kid feel happy, and feel like a champion.”
