Many assisted-living facilities banned visitors rather than take the risk of coronavirus infecting the residents.
Mary Daniel of Jacksonville, Florida could not see her husband suffering with early-onset Alzheimer’s. Before the shutdown, she visited daily and tucked her husband into bed.
For his well-being and her own sanity, Mary Daniel applied at his facility to be a part-time dishwasher.
Twice a week, after cleaning the kitchen and scrubbing dishes, Mary spends quality time with her husband. She said, (quote) “I was willing to do whatever it took to fulfill my promise. I am going to be there for him every step of the way.” (The Washington Post)
