Coffee Talk from Honor Credit Union – Monday, February 1

National Get Up Day: A day to remember that even if we fall, we need to pick ourselves back up and give it another shot.

Looks like we don’t have to worry about a zombie apocalypse, because according to a new study from Ohio State University, we are already the “Walking Dead.” The study found that more than a third of people are walking around like zombies, in a state of constant stress and fatigue.

Have you ever noticed that some people look older when they lose a bunch of weight? Well, there’s a name for that. It’s called “diet face.” According to a new study, it happens when losing weight causes the skin on the face to sag. The cheeks aren’t as full, eyes appear more sunken, and jowls get heavier. Great. Doctors say this is particularly true for middle-aged people who lose weight. So what do you do if you want to lose weight but don’t want to look older? Experts say lose weight gradually, rather than drastically.

Are you a hand talker? Embrace it. If you make a lot of hand gestures when you speak, and have always been self-conscious about looking a bit unprofessional because of your tendency to throw your hands around while getting your point across, no need to stress any longer. A new study found that people who talk with their hands not only come across as more engaging to their audience, but more memorable. So, not only are people more interested in what you have to say, but they are also more likely to remember it after you’re done saying it. (Martha Stewart)

Don’t know when your pasta is done cooking? There’s a playlist for that. Yep, pasta company Barilla has teamed up with Spotify for playlists that will help you cook your pasta perfectly. The idea is that once the water is boiling and you put your pasta in, you hit play on one of the songs on your playlist, and then take out the pasta when the song is done. There are a range of music genres to choose from on the playlist – all featuring Italian artists. (Delish)
