TODAY IS:
  • U.S. Marine Corps Birthday
  • National Vanilla Cupcake Day

Has COVID led to the return of handmade holiday gifts? A new survey found that a third of respondents said they had started a new hobby in 2020 — and 85% of those plan to use that hobby to make homemade gifts for people this holiday season. 68% believe their homemade gifts will be more meaningful than anything they could buy in a store … particularly this year. (SWNS)

Speaking of gifts … We may not all be together around the Thanksgiving table this year, but you can still send your nearest and dearest the gift of … Red Lobster Cheddar Bay Biscuits. The seafood chain announced on Monday that, starting November 16th, they will be offering limited-edition Biscuit Gift Boxes for purchase online. They can be picked up from the restaurant or delivered to your door where available. (Taste of Home)

And speaking of Thanksgiving … One of the best parts of the day is the after-meal nap … and Arby’s has you covered with a new Deep Fried Turkey Pillow. You wear the turkey pillow like a hat on your head – and it covers your eyes. It apparently lets you lay your head down comfortably anywhere. They’re $59.95, and you can get one at arbysdeepfriedturkeypillow.com while supplies last. You can also enter for a chance to win one for free. (Food Beast)

Maybe it’s time to add a little spice to your life … New research from the Cleveland Clinic has found that people who regularly eat chili peppers live longer – and  have a “significantly reduced risk of dying from cardiovascular disease or cancer,” according to the study authors. (Independent)

Ed Sheeran‘s trash turned out to be treasure for some of his hometown charities — which raised more than a half-million dollars by auctioning off personal items he donated.
The Ed Sheeran: Made In Suffolk auction was made up of items from a long-running exhibit that a hometown museum set up to honor the star a couple of years back. Items that went on the block included handwritten lyrics, clothing items and the actual “Lego House” immortalized in that song. The big ticket item was an original painting that went for $50,000.
Half of the money will be spent creating a new playground  for youngsters with additional needs, while the rest will go to the St Elizabeth’s Hospice, which supports young people who have life limiting conditions. (East Anglia Daily Times)

Beyoncé had big plans for next year: A new album and a world tour to promote it.
She’s nixed the touring due to concern the pandemic will still be raging through much of 2021. Beyoncé will pivot to virtual, pay-per-view streaming concerts.
An inside source confirmed, (quote) “Now that she can’t tour because of COVID, Beyoncé is currently mapping out a plan to create a virtual live show. She’s prepared to pull out all the stops to make it a real spectacle.” (The Sun, UK)

Liam Payne is roaring mad about an “out of context” tabloid story about the amount of time he’s been spending with his young son, Bear.
Liam admits to giving an interview to Britain’s Daily Mail in which he said he and baby mama Cheryl Cole agreed he’d keep his distance. But he insists the paper skipped printing the important part — that he was steering clear over concerns over COVID-19.
Liam took to Instagram to say, “Usually I let these things slide, but this is completely out of context. I couldn’t see my son because of the worldwide pandemic that is happening, not because I had anything wrong with me like this headline hints at. I wish sometimes these people would do the research and give context instead of painting people a certain way for click bait.”

Johnny Depp has resigned from the Fantastic Beasts franchise.
On Instagram, he wrote, “I wish to let you know that I have been asked to resign by Warner Bros. from my role as Grindelwald in Fantastic Beasts and I have respected and agreed to that request.”
The move came a few days after Johnny lost his libel case against The Sun, which published an article in 2018 calling him a “wife beater.”
A Warner Bros. spokesperson said, “Johnny Depp will depart the Fantastic Beasts franchise. We thank Johnny for his work on the films to date. Fantastic Beasts 3 is currently in production, and the role of Gellert Grindelwald will be recast. The film will debut in theaters worldwide in the summer of 2022.”
In his statement, Johnny added, “The surreal judgement of the court in the U.K. will not change my fight to tell the truth and I confirm that I plan to appeal. My resolve remains strong and I intend to prove that the allegations against me are false. My life and career will not be defined by this moment in time.”

All Lori Loughlin wants for Christmas is her freedom and she just found out that she’ll be home just in time for the holiday.
The Full House star, who began serving a two month prison sentence last week for her role in the college admissions scandal, was given a release date of December 27th. But since the 27th is a Sunday, the Bureau of Prisons will allow her to leave two days earlier on Christmas Day. It’s also possible that she will be released sooner, as was the case with Felicity Huffman who served only 11 days. (TMZ)

So because of COVID, we know that store and mall Santas can’t do their typical visits and photos with kids. Britney Spears has had enough of her father.
After trying to make him a co-conservator, the pop singer now wants him completely out of her business affairs, TMZ reports.
Brit made the decision after her manager unexpectedly quit at the end of October — and Jamie hired a new one without telling her.
She’s filed court papers demanding that the Bessemer Service Trust become her sole conservator — and that Jamie Spears be removed entirely from the conservatorship, which she’s been under since her infamous mental breakdown in 2007.

Lori Loughlin is five days into her two-month prison sentence for her role in the college admissions scandal and hasn’t been handling it well, according to sources close to her.
The 56-year-old actress reported to federal prison in Dublin, California last Friday and a source tells Us Weekly that she has been “a wreck” so far. The source added, “Lori tried her best to be brave and look at the end result but there was nothing that could dissipate her fears. It’s only two months but she’s dreading it. Her mind keeps telling her that something will go horribly wrong in prison or that her stay could be prolonged.”
Another source says, “Lori really went into prison strong, she had her faith and the support of her family, but the first few days and road ahead are daunting.” Loughlin is doing time at the same minimum security facility that Felicity Huffman served her sentence in. Loughlin’s husband, Mossimo Giannulli is expected to begin serving his five-month sentence on November 19th.

Woman’s Day magazine says Jennifer Aniston is allegedly worried about what Matthew Perry will reveal in his upcoming memoir. A source tells the magazine, “She’s worried Matthew will reveal how flirty she was with him on set, even while she was married to Brad Pitt. Jen also managed to keep rumors of an affair with Matt Le Blanc out of the media, but a book might bring that all up. She knew how much Matthew wanted their on-screen romance to translate to off screen. Their close relationship is still a bone of contention with her fiancé, even though Courtney insists nothing ever happened. She fears that Matthew might say something did, even if it only sells copies. Jen and Courtney have begged her to be the go-between for them and Matthew. If it gets off the ground, this book could end in him being cut out of the fold.”

Have you noticed you’re shedding more hair than usual? You’re not alone. According to medical experts, people have been reporting increased hair loss since the beginning of the pandemic … and it has nothing to do with contracting coronavirus. The cause? Stress. Doctors call it “shock hair loss,” but, thankfully, it’s completely reversible. The solution is to lower your stress levels. Yeah, we know – easier said than done. But eating well, exercising, getting enough sleep and making time to relax and tune out for a while go a long way in helping to reduce anxiety. (Real Simple)

A study conducted in Germany may have pointed a way for concerts to resume during the pandemic.
On August 22nd, German musician Tim Bendzko performed in front of 1200 fans at Leipzig Arena in Leipzig, Germany with a wide set of safety protocols in place. Researchers found that the risk of the coronavirus spreading at similar events was “low to very low” if the protocols include “adequate ventilation, strict hygiene protocols and limited capacity.”
However, the study has yet to be peer reviewed, and the New York Times reports: “Some experts expressed skepticism about the results, saying they needed to be replicated and reviewed, and that more information was needed about how researchers used the modeling.”
Fans and production staff volunteered to take part in the study, and all were tested before going inside the arena. Each person was given a hand disinfectant laced with a florescent dye and a digital location tracker. Different social-distancing scenarios were employed over a 10-hour period, including breaks for fans to go to the bathroom and to simulate buying food and drinks.

Remember Kelly Clarkson‘s “amicable” split from hubby Brandon Blackstock? Well, it’s not so amicable anymore.
According to OK! magazine, things started to get ugly when Kel’s former manager, who happens to be Brandon’s dad, sued her for $1.4 million in allegedly unpaid fees. A pal of Kelly’s says, “The lawsuit really took the wind out of Kelly. She was with them for 13 years and made the company so much money. Now it feels like they’re going after her life savings.”
The spy adds that she’s ready to fight on all fronts. “If Brandon thinks he’s got the upper hand with this lawsuit and that he can get more money out of her in the divorce, he can think again. Harrison Ford has paid tribute to his on-screen father, Sean Connery, who died Saturday at age 90.
In a statement to The Hollywood Reporter, Harrison said, “He was my father…not in life…but in Indy 3. You don’t know pleasure until someone pays you to take Sean Connery for a ride in the sidecar of a Russian motorcycle bouncing along a bumpy, twisty mountain trail and getting to watch him squirm. God we had fun — if he’s in heaven, I hope they have golf courses. Rest in peace dear friend.”
In a making-of featurette, director Steven Spielberg said casting Dr. Jones’s father in 1989’s Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade was simple. “There is only one option when it comes to playing Indy’s father and that is James Bond. The original James Bond, the great James Bond: Sean Connery.”
Of Connery’s death, Indiana Jones co-creator George Lucas said, “Sir Sean Connery, through his talent and drive, left an indelible mark in cinematic history. His audiences spanned generations, each with favorite roles he played. He will always hold a special place in my heart as Indy’s dad. With an air of intelligent authority and sly sense of comedic mischief, only someone like Sean Connery could render Indiana Jones immediately into boyish regret or relief through a stern fatherly chiding or rejoiceful hug. I’m thankful for having had the good fortune to have known and worked with him. My thoughts are with his family.”

She photographed her bruised face to prove it. Depp dubbed that stunt a “choreographed hoax.” His attorneys called Amber Heard a “compulsive liar.”
The three-week libel trial featured “sordid and salacious testimony” ranging from accusations of vengeful bedroom pooping, unfaithfulness, “deep misogyny,” gold-digging, drug and alcohol abuse plus screeds written on mirrors in blood. (The Guardian)

Mariah Carey pulled a Halloween-worthy trick on fans over the weekend — by using creepy images to hint at that she has a Christmas announcement coming … eventually.
Mimi’s ornate post begins with a horror-movie styled door featuring dripping blood, handprints and the words “not yet.” It opens to show Mariah looking festive in front of a Christmas tree while “All I Want for Christmas Is You” plays in the background.

The Hope For Hasti Just Giving page has raised nearly one million dollars. You can donate here.

The “Intentions” singer continued, “It was so consistent, the pain was so consistent. There was times where I was really, really suicidal.” He concluded by urging followers to seek help if they get to that point.
